Jit Ong's birthday

His actual birthday was on Sunday (26/04), but he held a BBQ/Potluck party at his house on Saturday (25/04).

He requested each of us to bring something. Among the food that the others brought were: a large Pizza from Pizza Hut. As soon as I saw the box, I went hunting for it. But it was finished!! Boo..Why? Err..cos cs and I arrived late to the party. Another person tapau-ed Sushi from Sushi King. Quite lavish I think. Then someone brought hand made wantons, taste quite good. And someone else brought a huge plate of seafood noodles.

I don't remember what else were there..sorry..

Me and cs, er..economic crisis you know. So, I er brought deep fried fish. The fish fillet type and cut into small pieces fried in some batter. As shown below: The last piece.

Eli cooked it.

There were also some hot dogs, chicken wings, prawn, and lamb.

This is the oily faced photo..

After dinner some of the guys went in to start a makeshift cybercafe. Playing some game. No idea what. I hate online games of any kind and never participate..

Let me explain. When I was younger, I played the TV games with my brother. Back then, it was Super Mario Brothers, and Bubble Bobble, and Tetris, and Bomber Man. I liked it. But I lacked the patience to continue on..I remember, I used to play Street Fighters with Kevin. Unlike me, he excelled at games. Any type of games he can play and damn he is good at it. I think he inherited that from mum. My mum plays PS mahjong, bomber man, hercules etc...I don't know what the names are. I have very limited knowledge when it comes to games..

Anyway, Kevin and me with Street Fighters. He always wins! Not surprising, I know. But me, I would be pulling on his shirt, grabbing his remote, slapping his thighs, his hands etc anything to stop him from beating me. I'm so damn kiasu. That is normally what happens when I play games.

Another worse example: I used to play msn games with cs, such as reversi. When I know that I'm going to lose, I shut down the window. Since he's not beside me, I can't punch, kick, slap...er...so...er...i shut down the entire screen. Game finished!

That's why I don't play games and why nobody who knows me tries to invite me to play...

Ah ong opened a bottle of liquor. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was a type of tequila. His friend bought it for him from Australia, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong..I didn't get the name of this alcohol. Forgot to that day..

Anyway, what is so special about this liquor? There were two worms or maggots or caterpillar or whatever that is rotting away inside. I presume its dead already. The guys said it tasted like yomeishu, which is some kind of chinese health wine. To be perfectly honest, this alcohol tastes like shit. The worst ever alcohol I have ever tasted. I took a sip and couldn't finish it. It tasted sooo bitter, like I was eating sand paper mashed into water, or the mouldy bread mashed into water. Eww..

I hope yomeishu doesn't taste like that, or how could they do business??? Who wants to drink that? Eww..for your information, we tried this liquor on the rocks, just ice. It was practically impossible to try to mix it with any type of soda to make it easier to go down.

No one else finished their drink, I noticed. Heh.

Moving on. At 11pm, I asked cs, where is the birthday cake? He went to ask the other guys, who were busy playing games. None of them bought it, they all assumed the other person would buy it. Horror upon horrors. It was 11pm on a Saturday night in Kuching. Which cake shop is open? Bear in mind that we are quite far away from town...grr...

Cs and I went to town in search for a cake. Not went actually. More like raced to town. Him speeding, me clutching on in fear..

Luckily we managed to reach his house by around 1145pm with an oreo cheese cake.

Happy Birthday! Hope you had fun that night and have a great year ahead!

blablabla

One more working day.

Yesss!!! Nothing beats a public holiday! Nothing! Except hmm..pizza at night? *hint hint* It is Labor Day on Friday. Perfect!

Oh well. More badminton photos coming up. I have finally(!!) managed to take a photo of myself. And that is not even when I'm playing. I always forget to take a photo of myself inside the court...grrr..memory loss.

Sunday's are my badminton days at Arena Sukan, opposite King Center. They charge RM15 per hour. We normally play from 2-4pm. Cs's badminton days are typically Tues and Thurs with another bunch of friends. The much-better-than-me group play at Stapok from 8 - 10pm. And sometimes later till 11pm. Its cheaper there but I don't know how much. The bf pays. Thanks btw. :)

Its no wonder cs is so thin laa..he exercises tooo much. :p

This was taken at the Stapok badminton court. Part of one of the halls. The place is huge...

On an unrelated note, I finished the Notebook. The movie follows the book outline pretty much, but some of it is different. Such as the ending. I didn't like how the story ended in the book. Does it means Noah died in the end? All it said was that he went to Allie's room and she remembered him after he kissed her. But, if I remember correctly, they both died together in the movie. In the book though, Allie (80+ grandma by then) was trying to undo Noah's pajama buttons trying to take it off. To have sex?

Is this right? The book ended like that!! Why? Has anyone else read this book? Comments please..

Long live youtube

I bought a new curling iron.

Winnie and I happily decided to try it out. Both of us suck at it.

She decided to consult xiaxue's videos. I decided to consult youtube (it has everything!!) After a couple of videos, we improved (slightly).

After curling our hair, sitting side by side, winnie said: do you smell something burning mi?

Me (sniffing the air): yaaa...

We proceeded to check the kitchen, open the back door, walk to the living room to ask our dad, then walk out to open the carpark doors. Nothing. But we still smelt it. After returning to our seats, we sniffed each others hair, then stared at each other.

"Is it our hair"???

*Sigh* We are so stupid. Of cos it was our hair. Being burnt by the curling iron.

I'm going to need a lot more practice. I love the curls but the problem is my hair gets crazy dry after that. What oil should I put on my hair before curling? Time to consult youtube again.

Long live youtube.

I want these curls. Anyone have any tips for me?

Not my day

Has anyone tried these before? I bought these at KL. Cs and winnie loves them, but they just don't attract me. I just cant bring myself to try and taste them. Today at KFC, I ordered a snack plate. My first time ever!!! I never tried the snack plate before. For those who don't know, a snack plate in Malaysia consists of two pieces of chicken, a scoop each of coleslaw and whipped potato, and a bun. At KFC, my typical choice is always always a burger. Either Colonel burger, Fillet burger or Zinger burger. Never snack plate. This is just an example to show how hmm..stubborn (?) I can be when it comes to certain things..

One lunch time, cs and I were at this kopitiam enjoying our food when I noticed this. Baby!! you need to cut your armpit hair! hahahhaa..I thought it was hilarious then..

Obviously it was the woman behind with long curly hair.

I'm not in a good mood today. You know how some people release their stress/anger/tension etc through various ways? Some people cry, some vent their anger out at others by shouting and being unreasonable, some play games and ignore others, some are downright bitchy or rude or arrogant or whatever..you get my drift....Me, I always turn to alcohol. And then I start to write in my journal. Unfortunately, those days are over ever since my journal went public and every dark, private, secretive thoughts of mine were bared. Even things that I don't really mean. Just things that are so shameful that I only reveal to my journal, not even to my best friends were revealed. Ever since that incident, I couldn't bring myself to start writing again..

Don't leave any evidence. Ever.

These days I just drink and vent to my blog. But then again, this isn't really telling the truth..I just hide everything inside. I realized that if you don't say it out loud, if you try to hide certain facts long enough, even from yourself, soon, you can even manage to convince yourself its true. Once you start to lie often enough, pretty soon the lie becomes the truth..even to yourself.

I had a nightmare again last night. This time I dreamt that our whole family minus Kevin went on a holiday to some place. The part I remember now is that everyone was happy except me. I got lost. I couldn't find the way home..Next thing I know, I wake up with my head and body aching. Grr.. Then I thought a nice hair wash with massage would do me good. So off to the saloon I marched. Only to be met with amateur staff with lousy skills. I am disappointed and still hurt.

Good night

Genting Highlands

Continuation of my KL trip based on the photos I took.

1) At Genting Highlands. I was still dizzy and had a headache from the taxi ride. Still blur, we walked into the Theme Park and three guys came up to us. Two of them holding snakes, one with an iguana (i think). Before I knew it, they slung the snake over our shoulders and started snapping photos of us..

I like this photo..cs has this photo printed out and framed on his desk! =) =)

Anyway, don't think that I'm so brave. I'm not. I was actually quite scared of the snake. It was fine when the snake was just laying there on my shoulders. But once it started moving, I was quite terrified and just wanted to get rid of it...

Why is he still smiling??

2) This is called the Space Shot. When I saw it on the website, it looked pretty scary from the website. On arrival, I was still debating whether I would have the guts to ride it or not. But the thing is, it doesn't look that scary when you're right in front of it. The queue was pretty long but the good thing was 12 people could go on it together, which shortens the queue pretty fast.

When the fog comes in.

There was two kids (guys). Not really kids actually. They look around 14 years of age. Not yet puberty, I'm guessing cos still shorter than me..Anyway when it was their turn, they were so scared that both of them were holding hands tightly. Grasping each other and saying: I'm so scared..I'm so scared (in cantonese). When the ride finished, his face was in shock. Then when he realized the whole queue was laughing at him, he quickly looked down and ran off as soon as the seat belts were unfastened. Heh..poor thing.

My verdict? Not scary. Cs went on this thing before and he said its not as scary as you think. Just enjoy the scenery while you're up there before the whole thing zooms down. Due to some stupid seat arrangement, cs and I weren't seating together. We were the last two to be let in, so the two empty seats were apart. Grrr...

I sat next to two younger girls. Grr.. Cs told me to count to 12 when you heard the whooosh sound. After 12 seconds, the thing drops. But i only made it to five before I fell. It was the feeling of weightlessness, like you're flying in the air. Before you know it, its over. It goes up once more then drops another time. Then that's it. Ride over. Not scary right? Proof that its not scary, on the way down, I was digging for my phone and managed to take this photo before landing:

3) Cs doesn't look so thin here.

4) This thing was closed for maintenance. SUcks..

Look. London bus and phone box in the distance...

5) Cs is sleeping. Hahaha...this reminds me of something the other day. In the car on the way home from work, we were laughing at something. Both of us laughing so hard while he was still driving. Halfway laughing, I looked up at him, panicked and said: baby..open your eyes!! You're driving! Him (shouting at me): My eyes is small larrrr..My eyes are open!!! $%^&*

6) No. 14 to Chelsea?

7) Outdoor theme park. Whole day pass..

8) Look there's a ghost staring at us in the background.

Not alike? Here..this photo for comparison..

I think they look alike. heh. Anyway, this was taken inside the First World Hotel. We went to the Haunted House. At the same place as Ripley's Believe It or Not. I didn't want to go in. Cs wanted to try the Haunted House. So we did. We went in with a 10 year old boy and a Malay couple. Cs and I were the first couple ushered in. It was dark and spooky all around and we were made to wear these 3D glasses so none of us wanted to walk in front.

Cs was like: ehh..kamu jalan dulu la. (you walk first)
But no one wanted to walk in front. It was the usual things you would expect inside a haunted house. Ghosts jumping out at you to grab you, things touching your face, loud noises etc. All of us screamed a few times. But it was more of scaring ourselves. The place wasn't scary but it was fun nonetheless. Heh..

9) Mr Baoz at Pavillion, KL. I have received emails about these paos before and was therefore pretty excited to see these. I know the photo doesn't look good. You're probably thinking what's so special? Well, the truth is, nothing is! It doesn't taste good. They taste like any other pao I see. Heck, I had better tasting paos in Kuching. Even the paos in frozen packaging tastes better than this.

The toppings were vegetables: green peas, carrot, corn. The pao itself was yellow in colour. The inside was some chicken stuffing. Taste was mediocre.

Bear in mind that this verdict was given by two very picky eaters. Fail..

At least it came in a nice cute little box:

13) It was a windy day and he was tucking my hair behind my ears. Cs is always doing things like this for me. Little things. For instance, he knows I'm afraid of the sun, so, even in the taxi, he uses his hand to shield my face from the sun. And when its drizzling, he uses the map to shield my head, while he gets soak. *sigh*

14) The indoor theme park. But we didn't go on any rides. I was still dizzy from the taxi ride. And maybe also from the rollercoaster rides outside..

We went back to KL at around 2pm. We didn't go inside the casino. Neither of us wanted to gamble. Didn't do any shopping cos things were ridiculously priced especially the food. Actually both of us were tired. Exhausted from clubbing on Saturday night. We reached our hotel at around 3am, and woke up at 9am to go to Genting. No wonder we were exhausted, and I was dizzy.

Cs said the hotel staff gave us weird looks when we arrived back at the hotel just 4 hours later. Probably thinking what a waste of money and time. What the hell man. I was so tired that when we reached our hotel room, I kicked off my shoes and basically just flopped down on the bed and couldn't move...

No need to work..

Disclaimer: A lot of photos ahead. As I am too lazy and can't be bothered to properly talk about the trip, I shall do this in point form based on the photos I have taken...

1) This photo was taken in the lift. We stayed at Melia hotel btw, which is at Bukit Bintang directly opposite Times Square. I like the lifts. It is curved, partly rounded and transparent, so we could see the night view. Behind us. Nice.. This was the first night out. Searching for dinner..

2) This was my dinner. One of the Pizza cone. Supposedly Korean style. Says the sign anyway. This was at the foodcourt at Pavillion. I've never been there before. I have heard the stuff are ridiculously overprices featuring brands such as Gucci, LV etc. Its not hard to see why.. Anyway, the only thing we could afford was at the food court.

3) Cs had something from the shihlinsnacks store. Oyster mee sua. Yumm.. It was one of the best I ever had. For those who don't know, shih lin is the name of one of the more popular Taiwan nightmarket. It is filled with food and is definitely a "must go" whenever you go to Taiwan. Oyster mee sua is a popular Taiwanese noodles with oyster. Very very yum. It is sold practically everywhere in Taiwan and very common. In Malaysia, there are more and more stores trying to imitate the taste. This shihlinsnacks is probably one of the best I have tasted so far..

I like it so much that I came back to Kuching and googled shihlinsnacks.com.tw. It is a franchise!! Someone open a store in Kuching please. Preferably Boulevard!! Salivating at the thought..

4) Me and the not nice at all Pizza. Nothing special except its looks. Apparently looks are deceiving. You don't taste good at all. You disappointed me! wtf. Both of us didn't finish the so called Pizza cone thingy.

5) This photo of the monorail was taken from our hotel room window.

6) Like I said, Times Square is directly opposite out hotel. Convenient but I don't really like Times Square. Oh yea, being the silly tourists, cs and I walked all the way to Pavillion (10 mins walk) to eat the mee sua two nights in a row. On the last day we wanted to have it again but was too tired and hot to walk all the way there. Sigh. Only back in Kuching when I checked the website, did I know that Times Square had a shihlinsnacks store too!! Boooo...

7) Me scaring the shit out of cs by how I look like in the morning...

8) Me an hour later after shower, light makeup, clean hair, and no specs.

We went to PWTC for the book fair. That was the reason we were in KL in the first place. It was bloody hot and stuffy inside the building and damn a lot of tudungs (head scarf). I mean Malays. Don't get me wrong. I'm not discriminating. Just stating facts. It was on a Saturday noon but the place was filled with school kids and their parents. Sooo noisy and stuffed full of people pushing..

My excuse to go to the book fair was to hunt down novels at discount prices. Cs, to meet the publishers, suppliers, sales men etc. To my disappointment, the whole place was filled with school books and reference books. Books for pre school, primary school, secondary school, college and university books on business, IT, medicine, dentistry, law, english, drawing, cooking, art, inspiration, motivation and all sorts of crap. Novels?? Less than five stalls ok. Apparently, most novels are not published in Malaysia. Just distributed. Sigh..

I managed to buy two books: Twillight by Stephanie Meyer and the Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. 30.0% discount. Only RM25 for one book. Cheap!! Was searching high and low for the Inkheart trilogy but couldn't find it anywhere. Grrr..

9) On Saturday morning, we lay in bed till around 10am. Finally!! No need to set alarm clock to work. Poor baby works everyday from Mon-Sun. So, this is mostly for his benefit. Only during holidays, he can sleep late. Even during public holidays he has to work half day. Its no surprise he has trouble sleeping in during mornings. Even on holidays..

10) After the lousy book fair, we went to the legendary Petronas Twin Towers. I'm saying this as more of a sarcasm rather than really admiring it. I do admit that it looks beautiful, particularly at night. But I get sick and tired of people asking me when I'm in London. Here, let me show an example of a typical conversation of me and a stranger in London:

The typical question
Him: Hi. Where are u from?
Me: Malaysia. Saraw... (before I finish the sentence)
Him: (excitedly) ohh..I know I know. Petronas Twin Towers. (this is the more knowledgable ones).

The more ignorant ones: the tallest building in the world right??
Me: err..not anymore..

The rude/retarded ones: ya. the towers. You have been there before of course?
Me: No. Never. Its nothing specia....(before I finish)
Him: what???? You never been there??? You stay in Malaysia but you've never seen it??? Why??

Fuck you.

Said Twin Towers at night.. Sigh.

11) Saturday night. We went to PWTC for the book fair, then went to KLCC (twin towers or corn as he likes to call it. you know, jagung) then times square. then back to hotel. rest for a while and then walked to Pavilion for the mee sua. Then came back to the hotel where he slept, while I read..

12) At 1130pm, we went to meet some friends at Quattro club, which is opposite KLCC..The club was nice. Modern and good music. No dance floor which sucks. The crowd were mostly people around my age. Ladies all dressed up, and men not really..which is typical. But men pay which is also typical. Heh. Women stand and look pretty. And dance. And in most cases I noticed at Quattro that night, the women seem to like to rub up against many men.

Let me explain. When we got into the club, it was around 12am and already filled with people.. We were at a table which was already crowded with people. Cs and I were standing awkwardly to the side while our host went to search for another table. Standing there, I noticed the tables beside us. One girl in a purple dress was dancing with one guy the first time I looked. The sexy dance, rubbing her body against his, arms around his neck, waist, touching. Second time I looked it was another guy. Third time, another guy. Hell she was like that with all five guys the 10 minutes I was watching. And they all seem to know each other. Its not just her. The other girls at her table too..

Its not that I am not open minded. I do dance with guys. But this isn't dancing. This is being cheap and too easy. Its not just her. Even when I observe the scene that night, I didn't like it. Lucky I had cs by my side or else..hmm.. He was pretty upset when I was dancing and when some guys came up to dance with me. No touching at all cos cs was there. They didn't dare come too close..

13) End of the night..

14) Something to spice up the night..

Baby is so kiasu.... Hahahhahaaa..
