Art

This is so called art that i've never learned to appreciate. I took this in the Louvre, Paris. Who made this and why? I could probably find the answer in google, but i don't really know how to appreciate the beauty of it. I mean, yeah, looks like a woman with wings, without a head. So, an angel without a head. Or maybe, its an incomplete sculpture. Yeah, maybe.. or maybe she commited some crime in the past century. and i dont know, someone decided to carve her, without a head. Hmm...

Speed cameras

Traffic cameras. Speed cameras. What are they called? I took this picture at Borough. Close to London Bridge. Weird. I didn't see so many speed cameras in Central London. I guess that's the point. People can't speed in Leicester Square or Oxford Circus. The buses, and the crowd makes it impossible. But people can speed outside Zone 1. This is just my theory. I could be wrong..
Few people take the time to appreciate sunrise and sunset. I'm a sunset person, since by the time i wake up i always am too late. In london during winter, its worse. By the time i wake up at 3 something, the sun has already set. i missed both sunrise and sunset.
There's something so peaceful about watching sunset at the beach. Lie down on the sand, feel the waves washing over your body, feel the breeze, touch the sand, taste the salty sea water. or other's urine. time to wake up to reality...

Fireworks

Guy Fawkes night is just around the corner --> 5th November. I took these photos on Chinese New Year 2006.

Now, this is vast, filling my camera screen..

This one looks like a flower to me. I think we took this shot too early, before it fully exploded.

This image above is a nice one i like. Green and purple.

Pure genius

Having finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for the 4th, 5th (i dont remember) times again, I am still awed by JK Rowling. I'm amazed by her. How can she come up with all these things from Book 1 - Book 7. It's fiction, and yet its pure genius. On the morning of delivery of the 7th book, i was waiting on the doorstep for the postman. I bought the 6th book after i finished work at night at a local bookstore. I got the 5th book within the hour it hit the bookshelves. I bought book 1 - 4 together and have been hooked since. I cant say the same for the movies though. The latest movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is so disappointing. The whole movie seems to be on fast forward, and the fight scene looks like a joke. Disappointing. I wish they make more effort to follow the book. I know most readers feel the same way. Never watch a movie after you've read the book. You'll almost always be disappointed.

Anti-Perspirant

I just received an email article on why breast cancer was usually found near the armpit. According to their logic, it says that there a few areas of the human body used to purge toxins: armpits, back of knees, behind the ears, and the groin area. The toxins are purged in the form of perspirants. Is that why some people's sweat smell, and some are yellowish in colour eh? Anyway, as anti perspirants stop or prevent the toxins from coming out of the body, the body deposits them in the lymph nodes below the armpits since it cannot sweat them out. Therefore breast cancer is formed over time. I guess there is some logic in this. According to the article, deodorant is fine, but not anti perspirant, which led me to check my own newly opened bottle of Dove Invisible Dry Anti Perspirant Deodorant. Great. It is a combination of both. Next time i go to Boots, I'll be checking their deodorants...

My Sister's Keeper

One of my favorite books, apart from Harry Potter is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.
It starts with a little girl, Kate who is diagnosed with leukemia. Her parents love her so much that in order to save her, they ask a scientist to hook up their sperm and egg to create a perfect sibling match who can save Kate. A newborn baby girl called Anna. Her parents tell her that she is born for that purpose, to save her sister, which is why they love her more. so they say. Anna has donated bone barrow etc etc to save her sister countless times. But at the age of 13, when she is asked to donate a kidney she decides she has had enough, and makes a decision to sue her parents for the rights to her own body. To cut a long story short, she won the case. An ironic twist; on the way back from court, Anna and her lawyer got into a car accident. She suffered severe brain damage, and was as good as dead. Her kidney was donated to her sister in the end. Anna died, Kate lives. Sounds pretty dramatic, i know.

Life is a bitch innit?
