To make up for not blogging more often

I was looking through my blog and realized that I have so much more events that I have not talked about. I just seem to have less time on my hands these days. Or I have become more of a couch potato. I actually follow the Voice, the Amazing Race, I watch French Food at Home when its showing, I watch whatever E! Entertainment is showing, even the Kardashians though I try NOT to!

I even watch Pawn Stars with Cs, and his endless badminton tournaments. Ask him anything badminton related, and he will have the answer. I put my foot down when it comes to WWE though. I don't like it. But since he tolerates my Grey Anatomy marathons, fine..

I have been sick the past two days actually. Feeling much better today already. Yesterday, it was nausea, vomitting and diarrhea. Whwn I told my doctor, the first thing he asked was: when was your last period?

HA! I knew it! Knew that he would suspect I'm pregnant. People seem to focus on the nausea and vomiting more than the diarrhea. Why? Is it cos I look like the type/age to get pregnant?

Anyway. Moving on..

To make up for not blogging for so long (a week, me thinks), I am writing another post tonight! Mum and dad with Win and I. Kevin not in the photo cos he probably went out to smoke..

My parents are bloody hypocrites. They smoke in front of us and hide it from one another. They only smoke WHEN they drink. And only taking it from friends (whom I might add are very happy to provide), and not buying any of their own. I'm pretty sure my brother doesn't know about this. Oh well. As long as they don't start buying their own ciggies, then its still fine.

***

My shopping haul from Bangkok. I should have done a Taiwan haul as well.. In case you need more reason to go to Bangkok! I do want to go back, but Cs is not as keen. He has already been there twice and he would rather go to Taiwan.

Taiwan? OK lah..I would rather go to Rome and Venice. Haha..further out of league. But yea. Anyone who knows me knows that I have wanted to go to Italy for the longest time.

In case you forgot how short Cherrie is.

Or how fluffy. She no longer bites us as bad as she did when she was younger. She really did (sort of) grow out of it. Eli is the exception. She bullies Eli like craaaaazy! Really. But sometimes I think Eli deserves it. Eli goads Cherrie like craaaaazy as well. They are very ngam. Suited to be together.

And yet, Cherrie looks for Eli in the kitchen every morning, and Eli loves the little monster to death. You get that we forget Eli is Muslim. Heh. Eli probably forgot she herself is Muslim. Lol. No lah. She doesn't eat pork but she is perfectly fine with dogs. Her parents know. We asked. They agreed.

I made spaghetti. Like usual. Then decided to pour it into a baking tray and added cheese to bake. Cs loves it. But really anything covered in cheese and baked tastes good! Cs had three servings! Always a good thing.

Btw, I used minced pork, instead of minced beef/chicken. Cos that was what I had. And I always chop up carrots to go with it. And that looks like a hot dog in there as well. I was trying to make use of whatever I had in the fridge.. Fry it all up with some garlic, tomato puree, red wine, salt, pepper, herbs, and I forgot by now. Let it simmer and taste. And voila! Spaghetti. I sometimes added in some worchester sauce as well.

I love my sunnies and iphone apps.
Although I do admit this wasn't one of my best err..edit/accomplishments? Hahah.

***

For my birthday, we went to Porkies! Yea my birthday was all the way back in Aug. But I was talking to Winnie about her birthday plans this year and we couldn't remember what we did for mine. So yea. This photo is proof!

We couldn't finish that platter above cos as usual we ordered too much food. No worries. Tapaued them all to Planet later to finish.

Just realized I don't have photos from my birthday night. Where are they?? Probably somewhere on Winnie's FB. That's what happens when you have a lousy camera on your phone. You have to depend on others. Me lazy to lug out my S90. Typical.

****

My parents love their salmon sashimi as well. Only problem is that dad loves squeezing lemon juice on them. Not as good with the juice. But its ok. Salmon is salmon. No complaints.

***

I don't remember if I posted these photos of Cherrie. But its ok. Drooling over cutie pie is perfectly ok.

I especially love the photo below. Look at that face. She has a leopard print dress too. Aww..

I'm hungry right now. Well not hungry but I just wanna eat something. Preferably those two below. Fried chicken and oyster mee sua from Ximending. I miss. ♥

I went to get a hair wash before going clubbing one night at Ximending, Taiwan. It was great! Costs about NT 250. RM 25. They massage my shoulders and neck before my hair wash, and during.

Getting ready to go clubbing in Taiwan. Waiting for cousins to pick us up. By taxi. No driving after drinking. Very good actually. Much safer.

Mum and me at an old people's karaoke pub. HAHA. I don't mean to sound rude but in this case. Its true. Its basically an old pub, and the old people are all older than my mum and dad! They have white hair!! Can they drink?! Maybe they go there to sing only. But man. They go up on stage to sing, and even dance. Salute!

We are easily the youngest people/table there. My aunt is damn geng though. She ordered kaoliang for us to try. 58% alcohol. Beer only has 5%. This kaoliang was damn strong. Its only the same size as a normal Heineken bottle. But it took us the whole afternoon between four people to finish!

We added in many plums to add to the taste. Blehh. Its nice to try but I probably won't order that myself any time soon.

Our cousin, upon hearing that champagne is expensive in Kuching, immediately passed us four bottles the next day. To finish in our hotel room. Is she awesome or what??

She buys them by the box, so she gets them cheaper.

Does she remind you of my dad, who buys whiskey by the box.

This is why we're family.

Jangkar Waterfalls

I have wanted to go to Jangkar Waterfalls ever since I saw photos from friends Facebook after they went. It looked awesome and they said that it was a quite an easy walk. Easy compared to Mt. Santubong.

I should have been more well prepared though. Wore proper shoes instead of slippers. But the other guys all wore slippers. Some other girls wore proper running shoes though and longer pants and long sleeved shirts.

The reason why slippers were more preferable was because you could get wet. We were going to the falls after all. A lot of trekking through mud and stepping into water. So yeah slippers were still ok.

We drove to Lundu and went to Kampung Biawak. Don't ask me how to go. Try to Google it. I just follow. Its a good strategy. Don't have to be in charge heheh.

When you reach the Kampung, just ask the locals how to go to the waterfalls. They will arrange a guide and quote you a price. Maybe RM 50 or RM 100. Depends how many people in your group. If you go in a big group, after you divide the money up, it won't cost you nothing.

We were in the jungle most of the time so no fear of sun burnt. I did apply and reapply sun block religiously though. So yea. Cs did get a bit sun burn on his shoulders though. Nothing compared to Winnie though. Heheh snicker snicker. (Inside joke). Kidding yao. If you're reading this. It will go away soon enough.

About 15 mins in, I cut my toe on a branch walking too fast. Actually not my toe. Its right between my big toe and second toe. Not fun.

I was wearing flip flops. Try to ignore the mismatched toe length and the faded nail polish. Focus on the cut. Quite deep and bleeding. No plaster in the middle of the jungle. Smart mi. Real smart.

So yea. I posted this so people can learn from my mistake. Either wear shoes and risk getting them wet, but no cuts. Or wear slippers and never mind wet feet but risk getting injured. Mind though, I'm the only one who got this cut. The other slipper wearing people were fine. Boo.

Also don't forget your mosquito repellent. I walked into the jungle with no repellent and walked out with at least 20 bites. I kid you not. This is just a friendly reminder folks. For people who are planning to go to Jangkar Waterfall.

Moving on..moving on. The hike was about 1 hour each way. 1 hour of speed walking. And only stopping a few times to wait up for the people walking further behind.

We have finally arrived!!

The water was so clear and icy cold!!

In this photo below, they just pulled John up from below. We girls took a longer route by the side to come up, but he wanted to take this way. So he did.

I think these three were trying to get into Facebook. No line though. Couldn't connect. We all tried.

They said that the last time they were here, the falls were stronger. Probably the rainy season or something. This was considered normal, or less. Oh well. I thought it was strong enough. Icy cold water ready for us to jump in after an hour of non stop sweat. Yes, please. No complaints!

Did I mention our guides were two kids? This kid in the water below and another kid. They were about 10 or 11 years old only. And obviously in much greater shape than us all.

Happy me and Cs.

Oh btw, there are no places to change at all. Nada. Vero and I changed into our bikinis behind a rock. Holding an umbrella over the other one. Yeah. And changed out of our bikinis the same way.

There were a lot of flies and bees buzzing around as well. Cs and Boon both got stung by bees. Just one each but no harm done. Pulled the sting out of each other and went back to swimming.

Our big group. There were 11 of us that day. Good fun! The more the merrier actually!

Vero and I.

We stayed for around 2 hours? Or less. I'm not sure. We jumped into the water, ate our keropok, took plenty of photos and packed up and left. Just in time actually.

By the time we reached our cars, it started drizzling. We drove to a restaurant for lunch at about 3++pm. By the time we left and got into our cars, it started raining heavily. Good timing again!

Reached home at 5++ pm. Tiring day out. I was trying not to fall asleep in the car cos I didn't want Cs to drive alone. I stayed awake to talk to him and keep him awake as well.

The next day, my body was aching all over. I'm so not an outdoors gal! But it was good fun though. I don't regret the trip. I regret not bringing a mosquito repellent though. I would wear slippers again. Heheh.

I would not go to the falls again. Once is enough. I would rather go to Niagara Falls. No need to hike a long way, and can get into a boat under the falls. Looks like an awesome experience. I read about it once and can't get it out of my mind.

Kinda awesome eh?

OK. Bye.

Badminton night

I'm sitting here in a badminton court watching Cs and the guys training. My first time in this court- it's quite new and has wood floors. Different. No sweat smells that is typical with those old courts like stapok. Also quite unusual, it's clean. Sort of.

I will join in for some games later..just for the exercise.. Last night, we played outside our house, in the middle of the road. The street lights did not help me play better. But it was a nice workout, which is why I decided to come tonight! :)

Nothing to do now though..checked FB, twitter, Instagram and now I'm a bit free.

Hence, this!

Maybe I'll help take videos of them so they can look back and learn from their mistakes.. Yeah, I'll do that now.

Laters!

Snippets of life these days

Its a rainy Sunday afternoon. This means HK drama marathon with Cs. But he is now snoring away on the sofa beside me. So here I sit. Cannot watch drama because I wanna watch it with him.

Right now, we are at the part where the husband died and the wife is hallucinating over seeing her dead hubby again. And being the couple that we are, we imagine/talk over what would happen to each other if it happened to us. Touching wood all the time. Bit idiotic, I know.

Moving on. Sakae sushi is open in leetle Kuching. Finally. West Malaysians have it so good!! You lucky KL people! You have everything! We have nothing! Sounds like Whitney Houston's song - I have nothing. Haha. I'm so smart.

I have only been to the Times Square branch before this. Me likey. Especially that oyster thing bottom right. Imma order it again next time I go back! Hopefully sooner rather than later.

And yea this is how I look like at home. Weekdays at night. Specs on, check. Plate of fruit, check. If there is one healthy thing the two of us seem to eat a lot of, it is fruits! We love our fruits. We always buy fruits and his parents always pass us more as well. Good habit.

Mum made these one fine day and posted the photo on Facebook. I commented on the photo and self invited myself over to dinner. I miss mum's cooking.

I can do crazy as well. Kevin knows best. He used to call me a crazy bitch. For no reason! I just whack him when he whacks me what. Isn't that normal? I take revenge! When he push me, I push back. I had no idea I was like that till my cousin (who lived with us then) said to me: why you always take revenge? Why can't you let it go?

I was stumped. When you get hit, don't you hit back too? When someone cuts you, cut back right?! I'm sure Moral studies taught us that. Yea religion too. Forgive, AFTER you fight back. Smart.

Hahhaa no lah. Kidding. Kidding. Of course I don't do that. I don't look like that type eh? Heheh.

Made healthy breakfast the other day. I was so hungry I finished the whole thing in a minute or less. Ironic thing was uhh, while eating, a distant part of my brain was telling me: something smells off. Something seems spoilt!

But as usual, I was too hungry and ignored the voice. Only after the diarrhea (fuck!), did I realize shit, should have stopped. This is not the first time. =.= Hope my mum doesn't read this. :)

Turned out it was the tomatoes. Bought them and left them for too long unused. Haih. Why am I so smart?!

I wanted to stick those blings on the second and fourth fingers but ran out of blings. Plus they kept falling off. I did put the clear varnish on top but useless thing. That clear varnish was the WORST! After more than 30 mins, it still have not dried. It was oily and I had to dab it off with tissue paper. It did not make the blings stick at all. Thwarted by that little bottle. Damn.

Look! I found this bottle in Kuching. This is just carbonated apple juice. Like our Zapple but less sweet. And supposedly without chemical ingredients. If you say so. The expiry date was less than a year, so I suppose, its a good thing? Less additives and such.

This is found everywhere in Taiwan. I see my cousin's kids drinking this all the time, and half the time I want to order that as well. But le cousin would have ordered beer for us already. Heheh. no complaints though. I bought it from a really unassuming shop at Jalan Song selling bak poh. Weird. Costs RM 3.80 for this bottle.

Lantern festival 2012. I know I know. I only post the photos now! This was at Friendship Park. It was crowded, as usual. We hung all the lanterns on the tree. Nice eh.

This was the original photo. Edited photo above looks too white.

Some of them made these little boats out of the lanterns. Not very good idea. We put them on the lake but they just stayed by the side. No waves nothing to move the boats, despite all our efforts. Oh well.

Better than those kong ming lanterns that everyone were letting off. Those things are dangerous! We saw a lantern drop in the middle of the road, at busy Jalan Song, right in front of some guy's car! Dangerous ok. Imagine if it dropped on top of his car, still burning.

Another case, it dropped on a tree on top of a stall at Friendship park. I'm surprised that nobody reported this, or talked about how dangerous it is, or banned them yet. Some more, Friendship Park is right in the middle of the housing districts leh. What if they drop on electric cables or on the roof top. How?

I read this post about someone complaining too. Read here.

This was one Saturday night at Planet.  Think I was talking to Winnie and Cs snapped this photo.

This looks like Winnie's bed. Went over to their place on a Friday night. If we go drinking on Friday night, I normally go to their place to shower and make up then go out together. Easier to go together in one car. Original photo before edit.

After. For some reason, this does not look like me. After edited, can barely make out my features eh. Too white and too blur.

Tango is fun! When I was in Taiwan and Cs in Kuching, we used tango to talk to each other! But here, Winnie and I are playing with each other at home.

In case anyone didn't know, Tango is free. You just need an internet connection and can make video calls with each other. Nice cos can show each other the surroundings when you miss each other.

****

It is getting dark. Should I wake him up to continue our drama marathon. I'm getting bored here.

Think I will. Bye!
