Japan Visa Application for Malaysians

I didn't know that we needed visas to go to Japan until I wanted to go.

Then I did all the necessary research. It was not compulsory but very strongly recommended. So yeah, basically you should apply a visa anyway.

I have been getting a few questions from friends about this, so I thought that I might as well write it down here.

The application fee is free for us Malaysians. But there are certain things you need to get ready.

If you are a tourist like me, read this page *click* Or just read on below. Let me break it down for you. This is just for tourist. If you need visa for other purposes, click on the link above to find out more.

1) Original passport. At least 6 months before expiry.

2) One (1) visa application form

Downloadable from the website and if you want to see how to fill it up (capital letters, neat handwriting etc, just Google it). Ahhh since I'm free and nice, I'll go Google it for you.

There you go. Sample visa application form. This is the old one actually. You can get this form at travel agencies or download online. I did both. :) Kiasu.

3) One (1) photo (4.5cm x 4.5cm) with white background taken within 6 months from the visa application and pasted on the application form.

Just go to any photo shop and tell them its for Japan visa. You should wear a coat though. Can borrow from the photo studio. Don't smile showing your teeth. Tuck hair behind your ears. As long as you don't show teeth and show ears, it should be fine.

4) Itinerary in Japan

I didn't understand this in the beginning. Why do I need to show this? Apparently they want to know where you're going and how much money you need based on your itinerary.

Don't have to be so detailed. But you should state down which hotel you're staying at etc. I copied a sample found online. Wait. I go find it again.

It looks like this. Again downloadable from website or get it from the tour agency. My form was less detailed but it was still ok. I didn't fill in a cell phone number cos I didn't have one yet but I filled in the hotel address and phone number. I also filled in the day by day activities like that.

5) Employment certificate (original company letter) stating your position, department in the company and length of service (using the company letterhead)

If you are a sole proprietor/partner/owner of the company, you need to submit a copy of your business registration original company letter.

For those who are not working: a self explanatory letter stating how expenses will be borne, name and relation to person (s) accompanying (if any)

This was slightly more complicated for me. For one, I didn't want to go through the hassle of asking my bosses for my employment certificate (cover letters are not accepted) because we have never actually used the company letterhead for anything.

So, I had Cs write a letter (actually I wrote the letter) saying that he would be paying for all my expenses, and he had a company letter (that he wrote) from his brother (Director) of the company. Get it?

Long story short: just write a letter stating your position in the company (sales, manager etc..), how long you have worked there (5 years), and the period you will be on leave till you return to the company. Sign and chop by the director. Must be original copy on company letter head. That's it.

6) Personal savings, latest current account statement, fixed deposit, Tabung Haji or Amanah Saham Berhad (ASB) (original certified true copy by the bank) (Need to show the applicant's name as the account owner, account number and current balance)

Print out the past 3 months bank statement and have it certified by the bank officer. When we went to the bank to ask, they said just print the statement from the machine, and we were worried that it wouldn't pass. But it was ok. Easier than we thought. Of course you should have sufficient amount of money to cover expenses for both of you.

7) Copy of marriage certificate (spouse) or birth certificate (children) to show proof of relationship between the main application and person accompanying.

****

Oh btw, forgot to mention. The tour agent we went to charged us RM 180 each (if I'm not mistaken) to process our application. We had no choice because Sarawak has no Japan Embassy. The closest one is in Sabah. So unless you are prepared to fly there yourself and book a hotel room while you wait for them to process it, your best bet would be to find a tour agent and get ripped off.

Bah. Our friend paid RM 60 for his visa application only. Probably cos his friend works there. No fair.

We went to a few tour agencies to ask and apparently some of them know less about the application than we do. We did our homework and read it on the Japanese embassy website but when we asked them, one girl actually giggled and said: err..I would need to bring passport (giggles), and erm..maybe money? Cs walked out after that.

Some agencies charge less than RM 180, but they don't know what they're talking about, which is why we ended up choosing this one. Rather than pay less and have them mess up our application, and we have to go through it all over again.

I think that's about it. OK bye.

Because I am feeling guilty..

I went to look at my posts and realized sheeett I have written almost nothing. All those impersonal rubbish on my blog.

So I err..took a few photos from where I am sitting now (in my bedroom) to share. Sorta.

1) That is our wedding photo. Why do people (like us) hang wedding photos above the bed? Not like we can see it. I hardly notice it. If you asked me which photo was it, I would have to think a while.

2) That clock can be found almost everywhere now. But I bought it in KL in sungei wang about 2 years back while I was there with mum and Winnie. I knew Cs would like it. He has a thing for nice/good looking clocks. And I have a thing for him.

3) We have a tv in our room that we almost never turn on. In fact, I don't know how to. Allow me to explain. Cs unplugged it, changed the settings and assumed I don't want to watch it. Wtf.

It's because every time we turn on the tv and watch a movie, we end up sleeping really late on week nights and we all know what happens the next day. Snooze snooze the alarm, late to work, and feeling lethargic the whole damn day. Which is why we don't watch tv in our room. We watch it downstairs together.

4) My socks says hi. I got into the habit if wearing socks to bed. Blame London for being so cold.

5) I really have to sleep now. Night.

24 hours a day is not enough..

I need more time in a day. It seems like I finally have time to lie down on my bed and draft this. Bed, cos I promised myself that I would sleep early tonight! No excuses. I have been sleeping around 1 am onwards almost every night. Bad for my health.

Anyway! I have some news:

1) I won the grand prize of our company annual dinner lucky draw and am now the proud owner of a new laptop! I am going to sell it though. HP i3 if anyone is interested. I know right, I'm a lucky bitch. So happy!!

2) It is getting closer and closer to my Japan trip! Visa approved!! :)) bad news is cherry blossoms opened so early this year. The earliest in 10 years!!! Ahh oh well, I am still going to Japan. Cs says its good too cos now we don't have to go to so many parks. Heh heh I had a few planned out but now we can cancel them.

3) Our new house is progressing as scheduled, which I am relieved and also secretly a bit scared of. Relieved cos we can move in soon! Scared cos it means payments are due. Foundation done..I foresee a lot of house talk I'm the future. Bear with me. I'm a housewife now ya know.

4) I can't wait to go on vacation. I need a break.

5) I am using my new iPad mini to write this actually. Testing it out. We bought it online. Yayers. Btw yayers= yay/double yay. Whatevs. Btw whatevs = whatever.

Can you tell I am getting bored? It's not easy typing here. Slowing me down. So yeah. Night all. I'll try to update more.

If I Die Young

Bury me in satin, lay me down on a bed of roses..
Sink me in a river at dawn, send me away with the words of a love song..

(Winnie and I used to sing this song together a lot at karaoke's)

Last night I went to Planet (karaoke pub) with mum, Winnie and Janet. We got talking about deaths. Cos one of dad's friends passed away recently. And one thing led to another..and we started talking about what if we died, what would we want our family/friends to offer us.

FYI, we Chinese always pray to ancestors and offer joss sticks, chicken, duck, pork, alcohol etc. Its tradition.

Anyway, so we all started listing the things that we all want after we die.

Janet wants teh c first (must!) then beer. I asked what brand? Heineken she said.

Mum wants coffee, beer, and then a cigarette. She wants us to light it and stick it there. (When my grandma passed away, my mum did stick a cigarette for her mum at the funeral).

Me, I said beer first and bring a box of pizza with stuffed crust. Mum said cannot so wasting! Whole box of pizza! Wtf?! I died liao she still want to be stingy with me.

Winnie wanted beer, vodka, whiskey and sushi. I told her not to die lah. So expensive. I better die before her. Hahah in the end, we settled on one shot of each. Ok lah. She requested california rolls some more.

(Yes, I am aware we sound damn alcoholic)

A bit morbid. But I kept touching wood while we laughed our heads off.

As an after thought Winnie said: stick a dildo in there too. I burst out laughing. Die already still so horny! Bitch.

What can we bring to our grave anyway? Ahh well. Years and years ago, I told Shirley that when I die, I want them to play a song at my funeral, but now I forgot what song it was already. You must think a bit wtf this Amy, why did she get ready a song for her funeral? Who does that?

No idea..it just popped into my head then. Maybe that's why people say you shouldn't say everything that pops into your head. Heheh.

Change of topic.

The pub was so full on a Wednesday night. Everyone no need to work the next day? Me included. Heh. I did go to work, I did my job - quite well, if I may say so. Hahah.

If I was smiling, this would be my new profile pic.

But its not. Fail.

Bye.

From my iPhone

Hello. It's a Saturday night and I'm home!! With Cs. No plans tonight. Well actually we do. We plan to watch old Hong Kong drama series but then Lee Chong Wei started playing.

So Cs is watching LCW defeat the Thai guy. All England Open is here again. Time flies. So yea. I'm here blogging until the game finishes.

Round face. I look back at my older pics and feel shocked and wonder/feel amazed that I was so skinny before. Damn. Oh well. I feel happy eating. I eat more now but also do more housework now. So hopefully it balances out well.

I have been on a pizza making spree. Every few days I make pizza and try to alternate the toppings. For fun. Its so awesome. Its cheat pizza btw. I used store bought pita bread. It is the best thing I discovered since the cordless vacuum.

Just stick the pita bread into the microwave for about 10 seconds to defrost slightly. Then into the over with all the toppings and cheese. 180-200 degrees for a few minutes (depending on your ingredients) and done!

I used tomato paste/puree as base for this.

I used leftover cucumber and tomatoes, and hot dog for this. I chopped everything up and grilled the cucumber and tomatoes before hand. Still tastes ok. I wanted to use up all my leftovers in the fridge. Plus it was a good way to try and eat semi-healthy.

Its also a good way to sneakily make your husband eat more vegetables. As a rule, he don't like cucumber. So yeah. I sneaked it in anyway. :D

Random cute photo of princess.

I always wanted to try putting an egg onto my pizza. I did it!! Here I used up leftover long beans and tomatoes and then cracked an egg in the middle. I was so excited..too much that I forgot to season my pizza.

With the result that it was quite mehh..so I added a slice of cheese on top and then into the oven again. Cheese saves anything. True story. Hahah.

This pizza below was our dinner earlier tonight. Heheh. I did give Cs a choice ok. I let him choose between pizza or pasta. He chose pizza. So I made this:

I normally make two for him and one for myself. This one required a bit more effort.

I used my normal spaghetti recipe for the base with carrots (for some reason I always have carrots in my fridge plus I was being sneaky trying to sneak vegetables into our meal again), hot dog (this was a mistake but I already cut it up so in it went), minced pork (cos pork tastes better than chicken?), and tomatoes.

For seasonings, I used minced garlic, mixed herbs, Worcester sauce, salt and pepper, some red wine, and that's it I guess. It was yum. But you can add anything to your pizza. That's what makes it so fun.

Cs loves this arcade basketball. This was one night after we finished dinner early and it was to early to go drinking yet. So we went to the arcade at Hock Lee. The guys played basketball and we girls watched.

When we went to Lido (the club) we were still the first customers there. Heh. By the time the others arrived, the four of us finished one beer tower. Lihai. That night we ended up drinking 4 towers. I forgot things after the 3rd tower. Can't blame me.

Cs and Chris. Seems like neither of them were good at this hahah. Just killing time.

Shirley and Chris at Porkies. I miss youuu...

Think this was taken at Damai Central. Day trip up to Damai with Shirley and Chris. It was so so windy that day. High tide as usual. Monsoon season. Now monsoon season is gone I kinda miss it. Heheh it is so so so HOT everyday in Kuching. Melting.

Its too hot to go out in the day time. Pity those working in sales. Like Cs. I would die in sales. People tell me I look so white. I know. I hardly go out in the sun. Before, I used to go out more often during lunch hour. Now my only source of sunlight is in the morning on the way to work, and in the evening on the way home from work. No shit. Any other time, I am indoors.

I don't go to kopitiams in the day time or go shopping on Saturday mornings. I sleep till noon every Saturday unless I need to work. God writing it out makes it worse. I feel a bit embarrassed. A bit only.

Moving on.

We went to Starbucks to chill after work. As a rule, I don't drink coffee in the evening and Cs complains (kinda) cos if I don't drink, he can't drink. Hehehe cos we share a drink every time. But I was in a good mood that day so Mocha Frappucino it is.

Red velvet looks so good but it is actually very meh. So dry. We went to watch Jack and the Giant Slayer after that. It was good!!! I wanna watch it again. Fee Fi Fo Fum! Makes me wanna read the book.

Mum made these awesome mushrooms! Love these! The inside is stuffed with erm..tuna and something topped with cheese (of course). Yum! Mum made these for a house party at home. Dad's friends came over for dinner and drinks.

So mum and dad cooked up a storm.

That black thing at the top is actually pork leg. Roasted. Not my thing. I watched Kevin eat the pork fat/skin with a look on my face (I didn't realize I had a look on my face) and he said take that look off your face lah! I'm eating. I must have looked kinda revolted (sorry) but it was pork fat!! Like fat! Sorry. Like triple layer fat!! Sorry.

Err yeah moving on.

Mum also made lotus leaf rice without the lotus leaf. Hahah tastes like it just without the leaf. Dad made fried noodles. The rest were: pumpkin soup, those mushrooms, cucumber+chicken+egg+peanut butter sauce salad (Cs likes this), mixed vege, drunken chicken (by dad), shepherd's pie (its the one in yellow beside the soup), and three cups chicken (literally translated from mandarin- supposedly a Taiwan dish).

Needless to say, I overate that night! Both my parents are awesome cooks and love to experiment. Good for us. I think I inherited this. I like cooking too! I want a dream kitchen in my future house with a built in over and microwave, huge fridge, and an island and probably a tv too (so I can watch tv while I cook) hahah.

We had this to go with dinner too. :) Dad spoils us. Now Chivas tastes like shit. I gagged on the first glass. Second glass onwards, I don't notice it. Hahah.

I seem to like taking photos of sunsets these days.

Anyway that is where our new house will be. They are just putting in the piling now. Long way to go. Its on the way home from work, so we always stop by to check look.

Ok Lee Chong Wei won! 22-20; and 21-8. Semi final only.

Laters.

Short post

Finally have time to update my blog today. Very half arsed post ahead though. Heheh plenty of photos of myself only.

These are from the 4th day of CNY. Daddy likes it if we all dress up. One year, he requested that we all wear maxi dresses together. And we realized how good we all looked together wtf. Hahah no lah. Don't know why but now we buy one maxi every year to wear on CNY.

Any excuse to doll up eh?

Suckling pig. Don't like. Don't even know why I posted this up. =.= Don't know why its finished so fast every year. Don't know why guys love this? Does any girl like this? Please let me know. Oh ya Winnie does. But then she don't count. If you know what I mean. Sorry yao.

And that's that for my CNY post. Finally done. Lazy to the max.

These photos below were taken at Space.

And this is my biatch: Shirley.

Which reminds me, I gotta blog about her wedding man. She went back to London already. I miss her. She is the only person aside from my mum and sis that I will link my arms with. She is the only person who can get away with insulting me. My family and Cs don't count. They all pu bo people. Hahaha.

She knows me. She knows how impatient and stubborn I am. We know each other's quirks. No, not quirks. Its bad habits. Hahah.

I seem to use "hahah" too often. Get used to it. :)

Too white face, I know.

OK that's it. Half arsed post done. :)

Back to watching old HK drama series. Kev finally found this old series that we used to watch together when we were in high school.

I don't know the English name. This is the Chinese name. 笑傲江湖. Very nice!! Kung fu! Let's watch together. Hahah.

Kev, Cs and I are watching it together now.

Happy me. Bye.

Oh btw my leave approved!! Happy me! Now everyone knows I'm going to Japan. Heheh

OK bye. I mean laters.
