Continuation of KL trip

I love panini's and hate that Kuching don't sell them much. The only place I know that has them is Bing. Its ok. They have lamb, vegetarian, ham and tuna if I'm not mistaken.

This was breakfast in Genting. Damn its expensive though. Think it was RM 21 for this. But its holiday so oh wells. Don't think about it. Earn back the $$ after holiday. This trip was with parents anyway so it was nice to not have to pay for anything besides my own shopping. How nice.

Dad even insisted on buying me stuff in H&M. Lucky me. He led the way into the store and said: I want to buy you something. Choose! :))) How often does this happen?

Love sitting out there in the morning. Cool breeze and slight fog. Its nice to people watch and also to watch the clouds go by. Literally.

We checked out and went to KL quite early. We reached Melia Hotel by 12 pm but our rooms were not ready. So impatient dad agreed to upgrade the rooms so we were on the "level" floor (weird name level), which means we could have free cocktail hour. Nice. We didn't know that when we upgraded. We just wanted 2 beds cos its 3 of us.

Anyway. Long story short. That was why we got free food and drinks. Mum and me took advantage of course.

I'm a guy at heart. I always have beer or whiskey. I don't like drinks with cute little umbrellas on them. Mum had wine and champagne. I tried it..not bad. Look at their salmon..quite generous eh. I err ate the salmon without the bread. Soi kuan. Means umm..you know, bad behavior.

We walked into a random saloon and got a hair wash. I love this guy la. One of the best ever.

This is me in the fitting room in H&M. Mum and dad went back to the hotel to rest up, while I shopped by myself.

I walked to Times Square to Matsuda to buy Cs' clothes. Whatsapped him the photo but no reply. He was sleeping at home. So I took matters into my own hands and bought him 3 shirts. Easy. Like how I chose his jeans and pants and working clothes too. And brought him to facial and dyed his hair. And chose his shoes, undies etc etc. Hahahha this is normal right? And chose facial wash, moisturizer, and this goes on and on and on. Hahhaa tell me you girls do the same too. Ahem.

Dad has been raving about this place for so long and finally I got to try it too. He even tapau-ed the pork leg back to Kuching once. Lihai eh. I didn't get a good photo but yeah can definitely see why its so good and so popular. Good stuff for pork lovers and meat lovers.

Every table has a basket of bread. Love it. Every restaurant/cafe should have this. Fresh bread basket. I love bread and carbs. Woe is me.

We ordered this only. One main dish. The basket of bread was complementary. They give a side dish with potato gratin (I think), salad, and something else. Not bad. Just right for 3 of us.

Mum and dad didn't want to take photos (their loss) so I syok sendiri lah. I Googled syok sendiri - full of themselves. Sheet. No. It doesn't mean full of themselves (maybe a bit). It means indulging in oneself's own pleasure. How's that? :)

This was at breakfast the next day. Only 2 people get free breakfast per room but they have awesome service really. The girl said its ok for today. But tomorrow you have to pay. Hahha. Thanks anyway.

Dad acting like its his own private room.

This was the next day. Tuesday. The real reason we went to KL was cos we had to go to the hospital. Meeting a doctor.

OOTD with mum. I never posted stuff like that. Start once for the heck of it.

Dress from FOS. Cardigan from HK. Sandals from Cotton On. Bag from F21 Tokyo. Hey that sounds cooler than it really is. Is that why people do this? Heh.

Breakfast! Love this kinda breakfast. Incidentally the only time I eat coco crunch is in hotels when on vacation. Funnily enough after I came back from the trip, I went to Choice and bought myself the kids pack. Think I'll have them for lunch tomorrow. Together with muesli that Winnie bought but didn't want anymore.

The next day awaiting check out. Are you sick of photos of me yet? Sorry but mum and dad don't take photos as much as me.

Phone case (new!) from Sg Wang. Top from Krabi. Jeans from ROMP.

On the MAS flight back, they have tv's for all of us and earphones. Cool. Watched SATC again. Meh..the last trip with Cs, I watched SATC again too.

Roti canai for the meal back. I thought it was not bad.

I'll update more on life next time.

Bye.

More memes

I should seriously create a label for all my memes. Feel free to steal. :)

Have you ever said you would never love again?

Yes. Who hasn't? No, I mean seriously. People who have had their heart broken always say that right? Haha I didn't specifically say I would never love again. But I do remember hating "happy couples". Bitter indeed.

Have you heard a song today that reminds you of somebody?
Duh. So many songs remind me of different people, different instances, and different meanings, at different times of my life.

Do you apologize first?
If I'm wrong, yes.

Has someone made a promise to you and broke it?
I'm sure there has been, but I just cannot think of one now.

Have you ever won a lot of money in a slot machine? How much?
Nope. But I remembered a story about my dad (or was it my aunt) who did. The machine rang as in an alarm sounded. Apparently that is what happens so they notify the manager (or who dunno) that you won a large amount of money. Dad initially thought he spoiled the machine by accident. Hehe. Would have been fun to watch. Wish it happened to me. Oh ya. That was dad. My aunt leaped up and called the waiter for champagne immediately. Hahaha..good choice. And yeah, we're family eh?

Do you watch sport on TV even though you aren’t a sporty person yourself?
I watch badminton. Grudgingly. I watched football while in London too cos my ex was a football fanatic, and also you're in London man. Watch football please. That's all the guys talk about. Haha. No la but I do actually prefer football to badminton. Just that Cs isn't so much a football fan. So I have no reason to watch it now. No time for it now too..

Do you eat / drink at your computer?
Always. My computer at home is clean enough though. Not at clean as Winnie's but still cleaner than Kev. At work, well I eat in during lunch almost everyday too.

How much do you overeat at special occasions? (Birthdays, Christmas, etc)
100% to 110%. Its a special occasion what. Eat first, exercise later. I think this is why I am still 2 kg heavier. Hahah. That's if the food is good la. Which it normally is. :)

Do you require glasses / contacts to see properly? If so, which do you use?
Yes. Both. Glasses (mostly) at work cos my eyes can't take it. And contacts elsewhere.

When you hear your voice back on a recording, do you think it sounds awful?
Yes. I sound exactly like Winnie btw. When we sing together, we can't tell our voices apart. Which is kinda cool and yet kinda suck cos yeah we do sound kinda awful.

When was the last time you got the hiccups?
Saturday night. I always get the hiccups when I drink. Boo. Anyone know why?

If you had to, which record would you go into Guinness World Records for?
Hmm..most likely to say "i'm bored" in 24 hours. Actually, I say that less now. That was last time. Now, no time to be bored.

The last sweet thing you ate: What was it?
Chocolates.

Do you have a middle name?
Nope. My name is too short. No like.

Do you find it embarrassing?
Nope.

Let Me Give Your Heart A Break Meme

Do you prefer a lot of ice in your drinks or just a little bit of ice?
Little bit or none.

Which condiment (ketchup, mustard, etc.) do you use the most of?
Ketchup. Or as we call it here in Kuching/Malaysia: tomato! I once met this guy in London who asked for tomato and chili when I was working at Mcd. I knew at once he's from Malaysia.

The first thing to come to mind is my Zara dress. Short, black and tight.

Do you think you’re too hard on yourself sometimes?
Nope.

What pizza place do you usually order from?
Pizza Hut. If Restaurant Beccari delivers, I would order that too. Bella Italia, not bad too. Toms Pizza at Kings center, nice too but overrated. If I would rate, Merdeka first, then Bella Italia. Pizza Hut not counted cos its different. Never had Junk pizza or Toms at Padungan. I should go try soon.

Honestly, have you ever mooned or flashed somebody?
I would only flash someone I'm interested in. Not cheap ok.

Do you have a least favorite color?
Orange? Green? Mustard yellow? Depends on what items.

Honestly, have you ever written something on a bathroom stall?

Who do you consider to be the king of pop?
MJ.

Do you know all of the words to any childrens song?
Yup.

Just now with Cs. :) Made him promise me something.

What celebrity do you wish would have a big comeback?
MJ.

Do you think your parents know things about you that you don’t want them to?

Have you ever walked into a spider web?
Yes. Eww. Not full face on. But in my hair.

What grocery store do you usually get your food from?
Whichever I happen to pass by.

What would be your happily ever after?

Don't remember.

Who is the worst driver you know?
Myself?

How about the best driver?
Cs.

Taller. I would rather be average so I can wear high heels. The pretty heels are all too high.

Do you know anybody who was born on a holiday?
Nope.

What is one thing you really don’t like sharing?
Secrets. Cs. Money. Honestly, erm..the stuffed crust part on my pizza. Hahah. Does that count?

Have you ever been hit on through text message?
Don't remember la. That would require a lot of texting back and forth and I never have patience for that.

What was the last junk food you ate?
Keropok

Do you prefer sweet or sour candy?
Sweet.

What was the last alcoholic beverage you consumed?
Beer.

Currently waiting on something/someone?
Nope. Just time to pass.

Some discovery channel last night.

How old will you be in 12 months?

Yes.

What do you say during awkward silences?
Something stupid no doubt. Haha. Its what always happens in movies.

When will you next see the last person you texted?

Honestly, when is the last time you have been to Texas?
Never..not even in my dreams.

Genting trip with mum and dad last week

So I already posted some photos the past week while I was there. But this is a more complete narration. :)

Sunday:

We (mum, dad and I) went to KL together early in the morning. 5 am alarm rang. Yawnn. Our flight was at 6:15 am. Kiasu max. First stop was at Genting. My last trip to Genting was with Cs in 2009. Time flies man. Incidentally, I don't remember the last trip I took with just both of my parents. Most of the time, Winnie would be with us. So I guess this was a first.

Start from the beginning ah. I am like that. Get used to it. Must take photo of the food on the plane. Must take photo of self on the plane. Must compare flights to and fro. Must compare AA and MAS. Hahha kidding on the last part.

We flew MAS this time. Free food. Sorry to compare (ishh), but AA's nasi lemak was more delicious. Just saying. Its still free so no complaints. If don't like, no need to finish what. Right right?

I don't like it when I'm trying to eat and someone nearby keeps complaining about the quality of the food. Referring to restaurants or kopitiams, mostly the critics in KFC. I think its quite possible the chef could have an off day. Or coincidentally, a hair fell into your food, so no need to kick up such a fuss all the time. Unless you're super bitchy all the time lah. Or unless their attitude really really sucks. If then, just boycott lah. No need to be so pissed off. Most of the time in KFC, I just feel sorry for the shop owners. If someone mentions this kinda stuff, then someone would start the KFC is for "criticizing". If not, why comment here? Yawn. Its a never ending debate.

And yes, I know I sometimes bitch about restaurants too. That's when I'm super bitchy and yes, I admit it. But I'm trying to do less of that already. :) Peace.

Before you know it, we have arrived! Genting!

My camera is kinda awesome..

I forgot how nice it was up there. The cool air/wind blowing, the food (not really). OK maybe just the cool air. It makes you smile. Unlike the heatwave we have in Kuching now, it makes you angry. Cos its just too hot to do anything.

If I stayed in KL, I would go up to Genting on public holidays too. Would be a nice change. Its not too far even. About an hour car ride.

This trip was kinda last minute. So, dad's friend got him a free room using his rewards points (the casino). Cool. Two double beds and a big bathroom.

OK bad photo but its my fault. I just took this photo to whatsapp to Cs to show him the room.

We stayed at Maxim's hotel (I think that's the name - I keep forgetting)  this time around. Checked in our room and met dad's friends for lunch.

Later after lunch, I went and got my own rewards card to start gambling. I'm really not a gambler at all. Lost RM 90 and called it a day. It took about an hour at least queuing up, going back and forth to apply for the member card, and I lost the money in less than 10 mins. Ironic. Or just really stupid.

It took way longer to find two slot machines that we (mum and I) wanted to play and that is side by side. And when we finally finally found 2 suitable machines, I quit so easily. HAHA. Damn wasting time. I kept getting strange looks from uncles and aunties. Mum says I don't look like the gambling type. Chehh. Everyone has to start somewhere what.

I just spent my time fetching drinks for mum and dad and myself. Oh and going to the toilet. And taking photos of myself. HAHA no wonder got weird looks lah. Like, this girl again!! Did she come in just for the free drinks or what?!

I kept taking photos of myself around the slot machines area while mum continued to play. Later on, mum mentioned that she was waiting for someone to stop/catch me from taking photos. Cos no taking photos allowed in the casino. Zzz thanks mum. Meh. I knew it but I didn't care. I was waiting for someone to stop me too. Hahah. No one cared apparently. Obviously it doesn't look like I'm trying to cheat my way through the game for myself or anyone else.

Moving on. For dinner, we went to a western/italian restaurant. Slash italian cos they serve pizzas. Too bad we didn't order it boo.

I like that they put the beers in this plastic holder thingy. Not a bad idea. I'll keep that in mind if we ever have to take a road trip somewhere, I can tapau my beer in the car. Heheh. Or bring up to Damai.

Dinner was kinda mehh. So no photos.

Photo of happy parents on holiday. :)

During dinner, I showed them the "beauty face" feature on my S4 and dad went: nicee..where is it? Which button on my phone? Hahaha he wants it too! Sorry dad. S2 don't have.

Genting at dusk.

OK update the other days next time.

Blessings

Thank you God for everyday that I get to spend with my loved ones.

Thank you God. It could be worse. It could be much worse.

Thank you.

I just feel like we could all use a daily reminder.

I may not go to church every Sunday. I may not look/act like I believe. I may diss his PR people. But I believe. I do. I speak to him at night. But yea, like I said. I could use a daily reminder too.

Awaiting check out

Check out is 12 pm. It's too late to go out shopping. Plus I don't want to sweat. My luggage is packed.  My phone fully charged to prepare for reading ebooks at the airport and on the plane.

Am re-reading tilly bagshawe's angel of the dark. Its ok. I have only read it once.

Don't know what to talk about now. I'm just wasting time.

Umm..this time we are in Melia hotel. Its opposite Times Sq. We upgraded to "the level" rooms. 15 floor. Benefit was we got to go to level 18 to have free food and alcoholic drinks from 5 to 7 every day. We can choose to have bfast there as well.

Very cool. So guess where mum and I have been spending our time. Heheh.

They have wine, champagne(!!), beers, vodka and whiskey and all that.  Food are mostly high tea type of food. It was ok. Too close to dinner time so we didn't eat much.

Travelling with mum and dad means eating wayyy too much food.

But its ok. I am hoping that all the walking helped offset it. Tomorrow its time to really exercise. please excuse any errors. I am typing from my phone. Bye.

Tales from the casino

What I learned today:

If you look too kwai aka like me, people stare a lot. Mum said its cos I don't look like the gambling type. I suppose this is another way of saying I am the kiasu type. Seriously though, the staring bugged the hell out of me!! Grrr. Its not that I look good. I definitely don't.  Mum says I'm not aggressive enough. Didn't walk fast enough and didn't push people around.

Which brings me to point no.2. Gamblers are so pushy!! And rude!! And they smoke too damn much. They rush here and there. They scold. They stink.

Dad isn't like that. I has a civilized dad. Yay me.

You can lose money reaaaaly quickly. In a blink of an eye. Where's my money?? Hahah.
Ok la. Complain enough.

Mum is somewhat luckier than me. She keeps getting diamonds something which means free spin.

In the taxi now..

Going up to Genting. Both parents have their eyes closed enjoying themselves listening to old chinese songs. Dad requested from the taxi driver.

Its a long drive..might as well be comfy eh. Haha.

Oddly, I feel quite peaceful. Maybe cos seeing the two of them like that. Little blessings.

We flew Mas this time. No tv's with every seat. Whaiii not?! So I spent my time eating slowly, taking lots of pictures and going to the toilet. Heh.

Going back on wed. Missing cs. Feeling happy that at least I don't have to work tues and wed. Yayers. Monday is a public holiday. Seriously I think Malaysia has a lot of public holidays. :) Always a good thing.

Don't remember the last time I went to Genting. Years ago with Cs me thinks. Imma try my luck at gambling this time. No going to theme parks though.

These photos are from the plane ride just now. Air Asia's pak nasser nasi lemak was much better. But this was free. Sort of. So no complaints mummmm. Hahah she kept complaining how bad Mas' food has deteriorated.

Missing Taiwan

I feel like updating my blog but my phone is soo slow loading the photos onto my blog (I blame the Internet). So I randomly selected a post from my draft to complete. I have lots of posts like these in my drafts. Sometimes I end up choosing too many photos, or I end up being too long-winded (like now), and the draft just never sees daylight or eyes or other people. You know what I mean.

So this is a Taiwan post. This was from Sept 2012 when I went with mum and Winnie. We wanted to go to Din Tai Fung - the famous xiao long bao shop in Taipei.

Try not to go during lunch or dinner time. We went during lunch. There were a lot of tourists and locals. You see the number 31 on the top left? Yah, have to take a number and queue up.

That guy looks so unglam. Haha F his life.

Anyway, I think we were number 85 or something. So, we went to the book store next door to waste time. You get to look at the menu and choose your dishes first while waiting outside. So when you go in, your food gets served very fast. Quite good actually. Saves waiting time.

Camwhore while waiting.

This is the famous beef noodles soup! It tastes as good as it looks! Hot slurpy soup. Soo good.

Even the fried rice looks good too right? Every morsel or rice covered in egg. And lots of prawns. Good stuff.

But everyone comes to Din Tai Fung for this: Xiao Long Bao. The famous bao. I love it. If you never had this before, be careful cos each of this is filled with piping hot soup and meat. Careful you don't burn your tongue. Normally I would bite a tiny hole in the side and wait for the soup to fill my whole spoon (should have taken a photo) and then finish the whole thing.

Winnie likes to put the whole thing in her mouth and pop it. She described it as an a mouthful of orgasmic explosion (something like that - i made it up). Hahaha.

Must order. Must have. Must try. Must eat.

We actually have this in Malaysia and Singapore too. Only tried the HK and Taiwan only. Never tried the Malaysia one.

I am randomly choosing photos as I go along now.

This was at one the underground station - their stations have long winding roads filled with shops - very nice to do shop around (quite cheap stuff).

After you get tired of shopping, you can stop and get cheap massages. I remember this was one of the best massages ever!!

Win hates massages (something wrong with her), so she walked around while mum and I enjoyed ourselves. Heheh. :) This was in full view of the public btw. Not in a tiny room or anything.

This was taken in a club. Don't remember the name. Le awesome cousin brought us clubbing, with our mums. Clubbing in Taiwan is soo expensive lah. On one night, she brought us out for beers. The bill came to 4,000++ Taiwan dollar. About RM 400. Seriously mind boggling. Can drink Macallan like that. Or maybe we all drank too much. Or chose the more expensive ones. Don't know lah. I wrote about it more below.

Took photo of these shots cos the waiter broke 2 beer bottles in front of us (on the counter), and he immediately apologized, wiped down the table and mixed us these free shots. Awesome much?! It wasn't even our beer. It didn't even make us wet or dirty. Nada. Seriously good service.

If only Kch pubs like that too eh? Keep dreaming mi.

Does it still count as OOTD if its a year later?

Don't remember if I posted this before. Oh well. Taipei 101 in the background. This was before clubbing.

Typical 7-11 food that I love. I gotta say this again. If only Kuching's 7-11's are like this!! Arghh. Quit whining mi. We have good stuff too. We have kolo mee, laksa, kam pua, chicken rice.... meh meh meh and meh. I just want their fully stocked 7-11's and Family Marts.

So convenient. They have everything. I used to think Taiwan's convenient stores are awesome. That was before I went to Japan. Japan's kick Taiwan's ass. And everyone kick Kuching's ass. Ok I stop. :)

That sandwich costs about RM 4.90. Not bad la..look at that huge piece of meat. Thicker than the bread ok. And they have sushi! Anyway. We go to the convenience store almost every day for breakfast and/or supper or snack time.

I don't like this duck..don't know why I posted this picture. It tastes good but I'm not really a duck person. This was at some unassuming shop at Ximending too. Next.

Self explanatory store at Ximending.

Our aunt brought us to sing karaoke one afternoon. In Taiwan, you have to go on stage to sing karaoke. Not just in public. But on stage!

My mum and her sis working it. Hahaa obviously my aunt is more daring. She's a natural. She has more practice. According to her, she goes karaoke very often with her friends.

The karaoke that our aunt brought us to..well, it was safe to say that we were the youngest table there. All the other people were very old. White hair, with walking stick or cute looking hats. So, it was just quite an experience.

I got dragged up by an aunty to dance

This is a bad photo of the condiments. Photo obviously not taken by me. *cough*winnie*cough*

They eat vegetables while singing karaoke. Hmm okay. Different, but still nice.

Instead of usual beer or whiskey, our aunt suggested we have kaoliang. I have never tried it before, just heard about it. Its a really strong liquor.

Kaoliang has about 58% alcohol. Normal beer has about 4% - 5% alcohol percentage only per bottle. This small bottle contains 58%. Crazy strong liquor.

We drank it with ice, water and plum. It took 4 of us a few hours to finish one small bottle. Damn strong.

After karaoke, and we were all happy and buzzing from the kaoliang, we went to have "niu pai" aka beef steak Taiwan style.

They have "niu pai" shops everywhere. Some shops sell mainly these, together with salad, some small dishes, and dessert buffet style. You choose a set meal like below and you can have free flow of the salad, dessert and drinks. The price varies at restaurants but they're not expensive.

This is my beef steak "niu pai" with pasta. They serve it like this: either beef/lamb/chicken (maybe fish too) and a type of pasta, with egg on the side. I miss this!!

Wayy better photo taken by Jerrick. Haih. This is why people pay him to take photos. Hahaha. Incidentally he's in Australia now, to take wedding photos. So popular.

Anyway, remember I said we went beer drinking one night with le awesome cousin and it came to RM 400+?

We didn't drink that much did we? Hmm..it seemed less.

We had finger food too. I forgot about it.

That's le awesome cousin and Winnie. :) Miss her. She's my mum's sister's daughter = cousin. They live in Taiwan, obviously. We only meet when we go Taiwan or when they come to Kuching. Unlikely these days cos we have jobs and our own families now.

Beer heaven. Spoilt for choice. So many types of beer that we've never seen or heard of. Awesome.

On that awesome note, I bid you adieu.

Night.
