Miscellaneous from Bangkok-

I feel like posting some photos tonight and am feeling extra chatty, not to mention bored. So, here are some photos I don't think I have shared yet from our Bangkok trip.

Wanted to try the Green curry chicken! Damn regret not trying it now. I swear my stomach just grumbled in response. F u stomach. How am I supposed to lose weight when you rumble like that? At home, I don't mind so much..but in the office, you let me down! I swear my colleagues sitting near me can hear it. Especially in the morning. Hahah.

Did you know when you hold your breath when your stomach rumbles/grumbles/makes noises, it stops? Yea, I'm a pro.

Pink taxi's everywhere. So pretty. And no, we didn't get in one. Cos Cs and I are damn gung ho taking BTS everywhere. Heh. And we drag mum and Winnie with us. They have no choice - just follow us.

That bag hanging off my arm - I got it in Chatuchak market for some cheap price. Forgot how much. But, when I bought it, mum said: that looks like something you would buy for your daughter. =.= Ehh she means MY daughter, not her daughter.

You ever heard of that phrase - you're only as young as you act/think. Something like that anyway. Yea, I'm gonna keep thinking like that. Fook it. Why should I use expensive branded bags anyway. People will assume its fake anyway. So sad.

We went shopping at MBK that day. Shopping with mum and Winnie always brings out the worst in me. 10 mins in, I bought two pairs of heels. Sheesh. Poor Cs though. 3 women shopping like crazy and one guy. Guess who carries the shopping bags?

But anyway he only carried mine. Handful enough. I err..bought that bag. Yea so convenient eh. Heh heh. No seriously. I now have a new foldable bag to bring with me when I travel. That bag was useful in Taiwan too.

Taking a break from shopping to camwhore..

Had lunch at the food court, where I couldn't decide on anything to eat. I was a bit sick of Thai food by then but there were plenty of choices, just that I was super picky that day. So I settled on picking through Cs', Winnie's and mum's food. Typical me.

Cs bought a condom from the vending machine in the toilet. Just for fun.

Happy us on holiday..

We went to have dinner at this restaurant that impressed us all. The food was good, delicious. The restaurant was packed with people. And it was cheap!! Yea, most important of all. Good and cheap.

This was at MBK. We just stumbled upon this restaurant for dinner. All of us sick of Thai food by then..so went to this Santa fe Steak House.

I forgot what was under that layer of cheese already by then. Just that all of us went: ooohh...waahh...nice..nice.. Yeah.

You notice they are very generous with the cheese eh? Its good for us cheese loving, non cholesterol caring and no-calorie counting folk, but I don't know if its for everyone.

Actually I do care. About the calories I mean. But on holidays, I don't care so much. Eat. Just eat or you're gonna regret it. It's a good motto. Only its harder to forget about the motto for now.

I ordered this. I think it was spinach and seafood something. It was yums and soo filling. Santa fe Steak House at MBK. Remember that place.

Moving on..moving on.

We went to the supermarket. Look at that! Tiger beer costs 29 baht/RM 2.90. 25 baht for Chang/ RM 2.50.

So this was what we did..

Last night in Bangkok, might as well end it on a bang. Hehehe..mum was appropriately as delighted as us over this cheap alcohol. You know what? Total bill came up to about RM 30++ and we actually went: whattt??? So cheap? Wait here. We go back for some more. Ok..ok cool.

I forgot by now who said that but I know that happened. Hahah yeah..might as well party in the hotel room. Cheaper than drinking out eh.

Nice photo of Siam Paragon. I think we took this photo from the BTS, or was it the station, or was it road side? Hmm..

We each bought a bottle of champagne each. So cheap. Might as well. And it tasted good!

This is where we have breakfast every morning. Just off the lobby. Citypoint hotel. Just steps away from Asok BTS. Very convenient, modern hotel. I have no complaints.

Took this photo cos you don't see this at the traffic lights everyday.

Finally tried MOS burger at Terminal 21. I know that it is from Japan and I wanted to try it since forever but always not good timing. But now, I just think its overrated.

It is delish. But we tapau-ed 4 burgers to eat at the airport. So that probably spoiled the burgers a bit. Go try it anyway. I especially like that they have those rice burgers with rice instead of bun. And they have beef yakinikiu, terriyaki (I'm guessing or making it up by now) for the flavors. Cool eh?

Just because you don't see this at most airports..

Bought a mango sticky rice to eat at the airport just because we haven't had it yet in Bangkok. Don't know why but maybe cos we're too busy stuffing ourselves with other food.

We saw this and went: heyy..we have mango tree in Kuching!!

Guess what? We do! We are on par with London, Tokyo, and Dubai. Hahahha thought it was funny! Its not often you see Kuching among those other big cities eh.

OK night. Bye.

The Famous Chatuchak Market, Bangkok

I was looking through my drafts the other day and saw this. Have I really not finished with Bangkok? Jeez I'm slow.

My other Bangkok posts are here: clubbing at Route 66, RCA; Safari World; Ladyboy Show; and Terminal 21.

So on Sunday morning, we woke up bright and early to go to Chatuchak market. From here on known as JJ. Easier to type.

I am damn gung ho, I tell you. No taxis for me. We took BTS (the skytrain) to Mo chit (if I'm not mistaken). Last station on the line. Google it folks. It takes all of 30 seconds to find the answer.

Mum was quite in awe with Cs and I. Saying stuff such as: how do you know which station to go? How do you know which line etc etc. Hehh thank Google.

Winnie? She follows us around, living up to her reputation of the youngest one in the family. Hahaha. When we went to Taiwan with Cs and his family, it was sooo nice. Our turn to be the youngest in the family. Just followed them around, no need to worry about how to get there, or how much train fare costs, or to pay for breakfast etc etc. I must say, I like it too. A person could get used to this. Hahaha.

In the crowded BTS going to Mo Chit.

It was very hot that day. Typical Bangkok weather. Good actually. Much better than rain. Actually it rained a while when we were ready to leave. Just a light rain but everyone was running to shelter, or buying umbrellas. I didn't care how I looked by then. Cos if you go to JJ market, be prepared to sweat buckets.

Wear thin, light clothing. And bring an umbrella in case it rains. Try not to bring a bag. Just carry your money, phone, camera in your pockets. So your hands are free to carry all your purchases. :)

I didn't take much photos that day. It was huge and the market was divided into sections. We came across this pets section. Look at that cutie pie being groomed. Soo cute! People were crowding around watching and taking photos.

Little furball. Awww.. I have a feeling the owner did that on purpose. He just kept on cleaning/brushing oblivious to the crowd around him. He probably chose the cute ones to clean right then.

Awww.. look at that fur. Soo cute..

Winnie and I bought a lot of tops from stalls like this. 50 baht. RM 5!! A lot of the stalls are selling tops for 100 baht too. Damn cheap. And yea I bought quite a few. Who cares if quality sucks. Its 50/100 baht only!

I was trying to look out for this coconut ice cream stall. The famous coconut ice cream stall. There were plenty of stalls selling coconut and ice cream, but I wanted this specific one where they serve the ice cream in a coconut shell.

It was crowded. I'm sorry I can't tell you where it is. But you can do like me. Walk around asking various stall owners where is the coconut ice cream stall. Walk in the direction they pointed. After a few wrong tries, try not to be disgruntled, and when you see a tourist eating THE coconut ice cream you're looking for, RUN up to her and ask her where did she buy it???

And that is how you find le shop. Easy eh. Thick skinned is all it takes. Hahaha she was quite happy to point me in the correct direction.

You get to choose whatever toppings you want. I forgot how much it was. But judging from the crowd, it can't be expensive or bad.

I chose nata de coco with my ice cream. Very nice and refreshing!! Cs had two. Or was it three? Oh yea, they hand free coconut juice to customers too. So nice eh?

Winnie bought two sandals from this shop below for like 100 baht? I don't remember how much. Ahhh damn jealous. So cheap! The shop was full of customers and I had to wait quite long for them to find my size so I have up in the end.

I didn't take much photos from that day. It was too hot and I was too lazy to care.

These were our purchases of the day. Mum and Winnie bought that leopard print bag to store all their shopping. Mad eh?

Hello Nana. We took this photo for you.

After the hardcore shopping, we went to Terminal 21 opposite our hotel for dinner. Pretty much starving by then. If I remember correctly we only had breakfast at the hotel and then coconut ice cream. Oh! So this is why Cs had so much ice cream. Hahah.

If I was starving, he must be dying.

Green curry fried rice is yum. This was at the food court. Love this. If I remember correctly, it was about 40 baht? Tom yum soup filled with seafood was about 55 baht. So worth it lah.

I kinda wanna go back to Bangkok.

Thai oyster omelet a bit fail though. Look at that mess. Does not even look appetizing, right?!

Lighthouse on the ground floor at Terminal 21. I miss Bangkok. Maybe its good that I take so long to write this post cos now I do miss Bangkok.

****

Anyway. The reason why I have not been updating so much these days: the Voice, Season 3. Hahah..only this time instead of lusting over Adam Levine, I'm leaning towards Blake. He's funny!! And kinda hot.

Btw, does anyone notice that when Astro promotes the Voice, they keep showing Adam?? Are they lusting over him too? For real! Every time the adverts for the Voice comes on, its featuring Adam. You hardly see Ceelo and the others.

Oh well. Anyway. I promise to update more these days.

I finally updated to iOS 6. Yea! Which means, I have the Nuffnangx app. Follow me. Or well, if nobody wants to follow me, its ok. I get a kick out of following myself. Hahah don't care that its pathetic or not.

Bye. Night. Watching reruns of the Voice now btw. =.=

Route 66 at RCA, Bangkok

So one fine Saturday night, we went clubbing! We chose Route 66 at RCA. If you're a tourist, like us, either pressure your tour guide to go with you (like we did hahha let me explain later), or hop into the taxi and tell them RCA ka.

Serious. That's what our tour guide did. She just said two words: RCA ka. The driver nodded and sped off. From Shukumvit (is that the correct spelling again?) it probably took only 5 mins? Very near by.

Apparently, its a popular hangout. There are a few clubs at RCA and Route 66 is one of the bigger ones. Says Google.

We arrived at about 9++ pm. Still early and not crowded yet. Good for us cos we could get a table easily. I forgot the entrance price. If I remember correctly, our tour guide didn't pay. Just us tourists. No fair.

Anyway. We didn't pressure our tour guide lah. We, and I mean me, just whined and whined and cajoled and whined some more, and she relented!! Hahaha she brought her friend along too.

That's our tour guide on the left and her friend with mum. Thanks Sandy!! :)) She is awesome btw. Brought us there by taxi, and made sure we got a taxi to go back to the hotel at night. So awesome. Actually I didn't whine much too, she was quite happy to come along with us heh heh.

She just said that she has not been to RCA in years, and they would be the oldest there. I beg to differ. Mum is the oldest! Haha evil again. Ahem. Moving on. We just wanted to go experience what clubbing would be like in Bangkok.

The only difference was Thai songs. They also play English songs. No worries. The DJ speaks Thai. The waiters speak Thai. The menu is in Thai (no wait, sorry this was English obviously cos I ordered the alcohol). They also have a food menu too. I ordered some light snacks- see photo below.

But don't let me scare you. Even without our tour guide and her friend, we would have got along fine. Not that difficult. They happily explain in English to you what promo they have going on.

By they, I mean this girl below. She convinced us to order a whole bottle of vodka, mix with some apple cocktail. It was delish!!

Ehh Bangkok a lot of hot chicks lah. They are tall, slim, and fashionable. Makes us look bad. Our guide says that its because the ratio of women is much more of the men, so the women are pressured to look good. The men are already less, but then there also a lot of men turning into women. Da fuck! She has a point.

This was what we ordered. It was huge! It is not the normal bucket where they put in the beers, it is much bigger!! It took all 6 of us the whole night to finish it, and yet when we left at about 1am, there was still a little left.

There were apple slices inside. I'm curious though - why is it glow in the dark?

If I am not mistaken, there were 3 dance floors inside RCA. We were at the one in front, with the live band. Man, I wish we walked around first before settling down. The room at the back seems far more entertaining. Good DJ and much more appropriate dancing music.

They have a section for you to check in on Facebook. That I did. :)

I have heard that their toilets are huge, so we went to check it out. It does not disappoint!! There are 3 main rooms for the toilet, chandeliers, sofas, tvs, and a lot of mirrors for girls to camwhore.

Ze toilet.

Still in the toilet..

Yep, still in the toilet..

This was the section I was talking about..the one where we should have gone. More dancing opportunities. Good music.

We left at about 1am. Walk out to the main roads and get accosted by plenty of taxi drivers on the way. Stop and ask the price. If too pricey, keep asking till you find one. Depends on how desperate you are eh.

Sandy was the one who found the taxi for us. Thanks again!

All in all, it was a good night out, but we went home too early. I would go back if its with a bunch of friends. Good fun.

Night.
