My Sister's Keeper

One of my favorite books, apart from Harry Potter is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.
It starts with a little girl, Kate who is diagnosed with leukemia. Her parents love her so much that in order to save her, they ask a scientist to hook up their sperm and egg to create a perfect sibling match who can save Kate. A newborn baby girl called Anna. Her parents tell her that she is born for that purpose, to save her sister, which is why they love her more. so they say. Anna has donated bone barrow etc etc to save her sister countless times. But at the age of 13, when she is asked to donate a kidney she decides she has had enough, and makes a decision to sue her parents for the rights to her own body. To cut a long story short, she won the case. An ironic twist; on the way back from court, Anna and her lawyer got into a car accident. She suffered severe brain damage, and was as good as dead. Her kidney was donated to her sister in the end. Anna died, Kate lives. Sounds pretty dramatic, i know.

Life is a bitch innit?
