Of life these days..

So I was reading my older blog posts from when I was still staying at my parents house and from when we just got married. I thought it was a bit different from my routine life these days. Let me explain.

When we just got married, I was quite hardworking. Cooking dinner almost every night, continue working out i.e. treadmill and swimming, or dancing my ass off almost every night or pilates (I try to avoid sitting straight after dinner cos it gives u a tummy), making supper for the hubs and cooking lunch to bring to the office the next day.

Fast forward a year later, I cook dinner hmm..once a week? The other days, I alternate between dinner at my house, dinner tapau-ed from Cs' mum, eating outside, or tapau-ing outside food. HAHA. I *try* to work out 2 times a week. I have not been to the pool since I don't remember when. Must be the last time our friends came over.

I keep finding excuses to not cook lunch the next day. I settle for simple sandwiches. Two slices of bread with a slice of cheese, or kaya only. Or buy hot dog bun from the deli with a packet of fruits. Or settle for good old maggi in a cup. Life is so much easier but guilty like hell. Heheh.

I hardly cook supper for Cs these days. I leave him to fend for himself. Haha grown man already. If hungry, find your own food. Good motto. So sien have to keep thinking of our next meal, and thinking for two. So yeah. One less thing to worry about.

Sometimes, when I feel guilty and we go grocery shopping and come back with lots of food, I have to force myself to cook during week days. But I am so tired after work already that I get grouchy and bitchy while cooking that dinner is not fun at all.

Or that we have to go run some errands after work, or that we are out of a certain ingredient (right now, I have no white or black pepper at home or oyster sauce or ketchup and yet to stock up), or that its raining too heavily. Or some other excuse.

Sometimes we forget about the food at home till it has expired. This happens so often that we are quite used to checking all expiry dates before eating. Damn.

Its just that sometimes its so much easier to eat a simple meal outside for less than RM 10 for two of us than trying to cook at home, where a somewhat healthy meal would cost much more, and take about an hour to prepare. So yeah.

Anyway! One fine night, I made this for Cs at 11pm, on a week day while waiting for him to come home from badminton. I was bored out of my mind with nothing to do. While making this, I was sort of marvelling at how foreign it seems already. Has it been so long since I made him something to eat at night??

It was just scrambled eggs and a cheese hot dog on toasted bread. Worse thing was about 30 mins after I finished making this, he called to tell me he was going to supper with the guys. Ohh okay, I didn't tell him I made this though. Cos its been so long since I made supper, he didn't expect this too.

This is exactly why I don't want to cook these days. Something unexpected always turns up. When I get ready the ingredients, something always happens that makes us go, oh no, we have to go do this and that.

I read something along these lines before: always expect the unexpected.

Yeah right! How you gonna do that eh?

Anyway. He did finish that supper I made him though. Turned out the food outside was so terrible that he still came home hungry. All is well in the end. :)

And this is a vain shot taken in the car on the way to a wedding dinner. Love my falsies. I bought two boxes in Taiwan. I have tried several false lashes brands before but so far the best were these bought in Taiwan. Easiest to put on by far! Dolly Wink my ass. Damn hard to put on. Damn pricey some more. Not nice. I think lah. Don't know about you.

New running shoes.

I am trying to work out more. Get fit again! Haih..you know that feeling when you haven't exercised in a long time, and then when you start running, you get that itchy feeling in your legs and your start scratching your legs and they turn red?

I HATE THAT!!! I FREAKING HATE THAT!!

That never happened before when I was staying at my parents home. I was so disciplined before. But when I moved out and only got a treadmill few months back, I slacked off.

It was also because when we reach home, there are things to do: cook dinner, vacuum the floors, fold the clothes, iron the clothes, take out the thrash, cook lunch and so on and so forth that I don't wanna work out anymore! Its 9pm and I'm tired! I wanna rest!

So yeah. But I hate that feeling! Every time I step on the treadmill and that itchy feeling comes on, I wanna cut off my own feet. Good God! I gotta exercise more. I just did btw. Ran an hour just now, and 45 mins yesterday. No itchy feeling today. :) /proud of myself.

I resolve to run another hour tomorrow night.

Btw, I also made a stir fry vegetables tonight for dinner. And got ready chicken soup for dinner tomorrow. I don't know what I'm talking about. I do cook and exercise what! Zzzz...

Moving on.

Poor baby had to go to the General Hospital  (GH) on Monday to go for an eye check up. Let me give you the background story first. So about a month ago, Cs got hit in the eye by a shuttle cock. No shit! The next day it bruised blue green on his eye lids. And only then did I realize how hard he got hit right on the eye!!

A few weeks later, he started seeing shadows by the side of his right eye. Apparently a dark shadow would appear suddenly. WTF!!! When he mentioned this to me, I was all: go see a doctor!! Go see a doctor straightaway!!

So here we are. You know the most ironic thing of all? The guy who hit Cs with the shuttle cock? You are looking at him! The guy in the photo checking Cs out. Dr. Lo! Hahahahah ironic much. They are badminton buddies!! They met playing badminton years ago.

Simon aka Dr. Lo is an eye doctor at GH. When Cs told Simon that he stared seeing shadows, he asked if he noticed that it happened more frequently or that it was getting bigger. Cs said yes! To which, Simon asked him to drop by for a check up. Haih.

Luckily Simon found nothing at all. Nothing wrong whatsoever. Weird. But Simon said that it could be delayed (hope not) reaction or what not, and to go back in case it still continues. So yeah..

Scared the hell out of me. Hope it turns out to be nothing!

What else?

I like these two colours. Pastels. Nicee..Winnie and I got the same colors though at different shops in Taiwan. Heh. She got hers first but I didn't want to shop at that place. At another shop, I bought the exact same colors for cheaper (me thinks).

Btw, I'm kinda in love with my accessories haul from Taiwan. I should post a photo of them. Soon soon.

And that's enough updates for now.

Bye.

Taiwan trip with mum and Winnie

I was in Taiwan the past week or so for 8 nights, with my mum and sister. No, Cs didn't join cos he was busy at work.

Because this is the second time I have been to Taiwan this year, I'll try not to repeat anything I have said before. For earlier Taiwan posts, just go click on my Travel posts below. Or go to the search tab on the top left corner of my blog and type Taiwan. I frequently use that to search for some information or something I forgot I wrote about on my own blog. Very useful.

I have a lot of food and alcohol pics only. Not much pics of ourselves cos we mostly look like sheet. Heheh so hot and we don't bother putting on make up or dressing up.

This was only the second day so I look presentable still hahahha. That is one of the best food on Earth: lo bak peng/ru rou fan. In English, its just minced pork with rice and a half cooked egg. Yum!! Coming from a person who doesn't even like pork.

I like how these look like. Golden brown and perfectly fried. Looks delish! Jumbo hot dogs dipped in batter and fried. Yum too!

We got these sushi rolls from 7-11! Damn I love their 7-11!! So much food and drinks choices. They even have those tea leaf eggs boiling away in a pot, and some fishball and other stuff lok lok style. Awesome eh. But I really only focus on their sushi rolls, sandwiches, all the drinks/juice choices, and the alcohol choices (of course).

No pics cos every time I try to snap a photo, the stop me. Haih! Competitive much.

Anyway. These sushi rolls. So unassuming but tastes good!!!

Mum brought us to a night market to shop. It was near Banjiao. This shop sells mainly oyster stuff only. This bowl on top is full of oysters..must have been 50 or more oysters at least in that bowl and it costs NT 100 (RM 10). Hello?! Siao ah.

In Kuching, an or chien (oyster pancake) costs RM 10 and it has about 5 oysters on it. You must order this. Best value ever!! It tastes good. Don't doubt me. Try it! Try it! Shop name? Errr..let me ask mum first.

Fried oysters. The outside layer tastes like sien shu ci (the fried chicken), but the inside is oyster. Nice..but I prefer the one on top.

This was like a fried dumpling; the inside is again oysters and some meat. Yum. Different at least. The three of us ordered these to share and we were full already.

I wouldn't have believed I would be full from eating oysters. Nice nice.

This was the night market we went to. When you see this sign (assuming there is only one slightly broken sign at the night market), walk straight down the road for about 5 mins (?) until you see the shop on your left. There will be a queue no doubt. It was full house when we went there but luckily didn't have to wait long.

If in doubt, just ask. Do you sell oysters and only oysters? No? Ohh sorry, I'm looking for a friend who's waiting for me there. Wrong shop. Thanks so much. :) My aunt taught me this tactic hahahh smart. Got appointment already. So sorry.

Moving on moving on.

Winnie's new necklace that we got from Ximending. At night, a lot of these stalls pop up by the road side. Some are performers, doing magic tricks, or singing. Plus there are a lot a lot of food stalls.

Our hotel was located right smack in the middle of all these. Even when my aunt came to stay with us, she couldn't stop raving at how awesome our location was. Two 7-11's nearby, plenty of food choices, 24-hour Watsons opposite our hotel, alot of hair salons, and plenty to shop. Oh yea, 5 mins walk to MTR. Convenient eh. Rainbow Hotel at Ximending. Stay there!

I got myself a henna tattoo. Wish it was permanent. Haih. Oh well it was good while it lasted, which was not very long. The guy said 5 days but it lasted (wait lemme count), ok yeah 5 days. Dang it. I scrubbed it off on the 5th day cos it was fading already in parts. Oh well.

We goin to Bali!! I always wanted to go to Bali (the country), but then I read Hotel K (Kerobokan) in Bali by Kathryn Bonella, and it freaked me out bad. I scared la. What if I go to a club and someone slip me pills without me knowing and I get thrown into Hotel K? Die lah. So yeah. Click to read what the book is about.

Also I have heard that it can get quite pricey. Bali, I mean. No idea actually but yeah. Not going. Ever!!

Why do I always digress?? I was talking about Bali in Taiwan. We went to Formosa Fun Coast. The waterpark. Regretted it as soon as we arrived. It was SO HOT. Da fuck was going through my mind when I suggested we go to the water park.

Win and I were blaming each other. Why did we come? This is torture. Its not fun!

In fact, we spent the beginning of the day hiding under the mushroom. Not this mushroom in particular, another one with more shade and proper seats. Hehehe.

Until our cousin came to pull us away to go on some rides. So fine! We went on this:

I am in the photo! I'm just underwater. No shit. That's our cousin, Yung Fen. She's awesome. Winnie is in the background with her float, and I am in front of her..er..underwater. Damn chun my timing. I fell over as I was climbing back up on my float.

We went to another slide similar to this one below, but less straight down. It had more turns but still equally thrilling, me thinks. Had to queue so bloody long..about 30 mins (or was it longer) in the SUN!! Ok got shade in parts, but still.

Sorry man. If you read my blog, you gotta read about my fear of the sun. Apologize in advance heh. I forgot to bring my trusty sun block! I knew I forgot something!!

There were a lot more rides, but I didn't want to take photos by then. Tired plus we didn't have breakfast in the morning. No time. How is that related mi? Didn't have breakfast and so didn't take photos? Whatever. Moving on.

This is my cousin's daughter. Little cutie reminds me of Cherrie. In a good way! Hahah equally cute and pouty.

I think I posted this photo below already..

OK back to food and drinks. We went to dim sum after that.

We don't have this here. I miss this! It has either minced meat or prawn (or both) mixed inside and wrapped in glutinous rice. I think lah. I could be wrong. Just heard my aunt and mum discussing how to make this over dinner.

Mango beer! This tastes soo good!! Almost like fruit juice. Not surprising since the juice is 5%, and the alcohol only 2.8%. Very refreshing. Nice. Try! I saw these on sale at 7-11 as well, in cans.

Because I don't have very pretty feet, so I made the photo size smaller. But I love these sandals. So pretty!

Ending this with a photo of myself taken on waterpark day! No make up. Taken with the front camera of my phone that's why its so blur.

Night! Update more next time..

Updates

Hello hello!

I'm back from Taiwan and sick like hell. What else is new?

Bear with me while I sort through all the photos and update as quick as possible.

I have a wedding dinner to attend tonight though. Cs is one of the best buddy. He went out at 5+ am and I have not seen him yet all day.

Men are weird. They went to play Dota after lunch. Not tired ka? No need time to get ready for the reception at night?

Then I remembered guys are so lucky. They just need to shower, put on hair gel and some clothes and call it a day. Lucky creatures.

Me, I'm going to get ready soon. Shower, wash hair, dry hair slowly strand by strand, put on concealer, foundation, powder, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, blusher, and decide what to wear, what accessories goes, and what shoes.

Which means, I am late already.

Gotta go get ready.

Bye.

Wednesday 12 September 2012

Tonight..

We are going to Myst club! It's ladies night..free drinks from 10-12.

My aunt is on the way here to our hotel at ximending. My cousin and her friend are at work and only joining us at about 1030pm.

I foresee a very late night ahead! But hopefully no hangover tomorrow.

We went to have the famous xiao long bau at Din Tai Fung. It was as good as I remembered it. Only thing was we had to wait for about 30 mins.

So many tour groups and customers. Bad choice to go during lunch hour. But it's okay cos food was good.

Update more next time.. Bye

Tuesday 11 September 2012

Today..

We went to Yilan county in Taiwan with my cousins and their kids, my aunt, mum and sis. All of us squeezed into one Estima. It was about an hour drove from Taipei.

It wasn't that crowded in the car really. Win and I sat in the third row all by ourselves. Occasionally one of the kids would come to sit between us (by force from their mum). Definitely not by choice lol.

I don't blame them. This is the first time I have seen the younger two of them. The eldest daughter; last time I saw her she wasn't even a year old, and now she's about 10 already. 10 looong years since I saw them. So yea, strangers.

Anyway. My point is, spending days together with my cousins n their kids, I feel:

1) that I am really seriously re-considering whether to have kids or not. (ever!!) don't get me wrong. They are soo cute! Especially the youngest! I love her! Damn cute - she reminds me of Cherie. In a good way. So cute and adorable. Shes only 3.

It's just that after spending the whole day and night together with kids, only then do I get how hard it is. YF (cousin) is doing an awesome job in my opinion! It's sooo not easy being a mother. All day long, I hear mama mama mama mama, quarreling, fighting, toilet breaks, mama mama mama, chatter nonstop and soo many questions and etc etc. Nonstop! From all three!!

How to entertain all 3 at once? Buy 2 iPads and tell them to switch every 15 mins. Really!

But this diversion doesn't long. Plus they still fight and talk really loudly while playing.

It was definitely eye opening for me, mum and win.

I like that I had this experience though. It taught me quite a lot. Patience for one.

2) I'm starting to talk like them. When I call Cs at night after a whole day of listening to the kids n my cousins, I use different words and pronunciations that I normally use.

Caught myself and wondered how is this possible?

I dont have a cute photo of the kids cos I'm sure u know (but I just realized) how hard it is to take photos of hyper active kids.

So this one will have to do..

I'm so tired. Off to bed. Nights.

Taiwan update

It feels like I have been here for so long but in reality it has only been 3 days. Or 2 since I arrived at midnight.

Today was water park day at Famosa something something water park at Bali. The county or something, not the country.

I came back 50 shades darker! Muahahah anyone read that book? S&M, bondage, spanking and wayy too much sex and fake orgasms (ana cant orgasm that easily can she?) later, the book is finished.. Sorry, books are finished!

There are 3 books in total. It was ok. I wanted to know what happened next so I finished reading. It was ok. Different at least. Very in detailed explanation, which is erm, good.

Back topic!!

I came back about two shades darker. It was a long day out, quite tiring but still fun. Too hot though.

I miss Cs..I asked him does he miss me or not? Why is he so quiet? Why no proof? I'm sorry but I'm the type that needs proof.

In reply, he said: I smelled ur pants to sleep last night.

I burst out laughing cos it was so ridiculous yet sweet and also made me believe him straightaway.

The night before, he hugged my pillow to sleep since I was away..no one to hug.

I miss u baby.

Laters!

Photo taken at water park today!

Hello from Taiwan!!

We just arrived late last night. By late, I mean we got off the plane at 1030 pm, got through immigration by 1130 pm, took baggage n arrived at the hotel at about 1230 am.

Our cousins picked us up! Thanks guys!! After check in, we went down to 7-11 again to buy some supper.. Happy us.

I'm here with mum and win. :)

I'm typing from my phone so I don't know how the alignment will turn out..

So, I shall describe here..

Those are my holiday nails. I have a tendency to decorate my nails before I go on holiday.

That big pink furry thing is dangling off my Phone as I type. Damn cute right?! Love at first sight for win n I.

And last but not least, why does something so simple turns out so delicious?! Yum!!

Laters! <3

First Anniversary Letter to Cs

Dear Mr Ngen,

It is our first year anniversary today. OK technically it was 3 Sept (Mon), but I didn't have time to sit down and write this letter.

Can you believe it has been one year already?

We still joke and laugh together. We still talk about everything. We still sit in the car and don't turn on the radio/CD just because we can sit together in silence, or serenade each other with made up lyrics, or just talk, and joke and laugh some more.

I love that I married my best friend.

For our anniversary, we said we would celebrate on Sunday. Ended up, we just went about on our normal Sunday routine. Go to Spring, have late lunch. We chose Kluang Station (bad choice) and by the time we finished lunch it was 3pm. By dinner time, neither of us felt hungry, so we had no anniversary dinner!!

HAHA..only we would be so stupid. Typical us.

I dragged you to watch Katy Perry: A part of me, that night. Good choice. Good movie. Xie bee for watching it with me. You didn't even know what movie it was. You just said: didn't you want to watch a movie that day? What movie is it? Lets go now. So we did. Only when I showed you the trailer did you realize what you were in for. :)

Love u for that. You just let me do whatever I want.

Has it really been only a year? Sometimes it feels so long. It feels like we have been together for so long, just because we know each other so well already. We met in college and remained good friends, but only got together years later. Which is why we have no secrets. Nothing to hide.

The other day, you turned to me and said it feels like no difference being married for a year compared to when we were still dating. I agreed. It feels the same. Only know I have to listen to your snores. :X

Thank you for being patient with me when I'm tired and cranky. Thank you for driving out and pulling me back after I run out of the house during our fight. Thank you for being patient with me.

Maybe sometimes I forget to thank you, but I do appreciate whatever you do.

Thank you for cleaning the toilets, doing the laundry and folding the clothes.

Thank you for helping me cook dinner when you know I'm tired/in a bitchy mood.

Thank you for my treadmill.

Thank you for always trying to give me everything.

Thank you for always putting me first. After badminton of course. Hahha kidding kidding.

I like that you tell me to wake you up at night if I have a nightmare. I love that you chase every lizard out of my sight. Even when we were friends. I especially love that you kiss me in bed before you go out of the house in the morning.

Most of all, thank you for being you.

********

Some photos of our year together. The first of many, many more to come.

You can read about our wedding here, and here. Jerrick's photo shoot photos here, Hollywood bridal here, and from Doris here.

Our very highly anticipated honeymoon in Phuket and Hong Kong. It was awesome. Blogged about it before too here, here and here.

I'm going to Taipei this week with my mum and sister. I complain about how hot it is still in Taipei, but I think the reason why I'm not so looking forward to this trip yet, is mainly because you're not going to be there with me.

Who's going to hold the umbrella this time?

Taiwan posts are here, here and here.

Maybe I won't bring an umbrella. Bad idea Amy. Typhoon warnings all over Taiwan the past few weeks. Fingers crossed!

Back to topic. I'll miss you..

Oh wait back to anniversary topic.

I look forward to your snores for many, many years to come.

xx

Love you. We are made for each other.
