Cherrie turns 4!

Our pampered princess turned 4 on 16 May. Its actually the date we brought her back home 4 years ago. Damn time flies!! That little girl brought so much joy and laughter to our house. Especially for mum and Eli cos they spend so much time with her at home.

We decided to get her a cake. Yes, she can't eat chocolates. So we gave her the cheese part only. Just a bit. But we did sing her a birthday song and lit the candles for her. Plus she received lots of extra cuddles and walks that day hahaa.

Dad got her some "sio bak" three layer pork cos she loves them for her big day too. That she can eat at least. She's already fat but oh well. Once in a while. Figured she gets to use her "but its my birthday excuse" too..

Mum and Kev are actually in Taiwan now. We sent them photos and videos and within 10 mins or so it seems, mom posted a photo of her new phone cover on FB. Its a photo of Cherrie in dad's arms. So fast! She captioned it: happy birthday my baby! Hahah guess mum's missing her princess too.

I posted this on Dayre just now but I'll say it again. I'm worried about possible diabetes at the rate I'm going. I keep wanting to eat/drink sweet stuff. =.= Scared. Scared of a hyperactive child. Scared of diabetes. Scared of being fat.

Last night after dinner I dragged Cs to Mcd drive through for an Oreo Mc flurry. Shared one and when I finished scraping all the ice-cream at the bottom and sides, I turned to him and said: not enough...

Him: .....har? Did I eat too much?

I just kept quiet. Which means yes! Hahah. Greedy much.

Mmmmhmmmm tell me about it. That's me. I haven't stepped on my treadmill for about two months now (me thinks).

Made this for Cs' supper one night. I'm looking for easy recipes that I can make at night for him. I kinda miss cooking.

This is an easy adaption from Kampungboycitygal's Dayre.

I used 2 cloves of garlic finely chopped. Fry it till golden brown with some oil. Add in one diced tomato. Add in chopped hot dog/ham/mushroms whatever you want to add in. I added in some carrots too cos I'm sneaky like that.

When its slightly browned, add in pasta sauce (from the jar). I added about 1-2 spoons full only with some water cos my ham is actually smoked ham so its salty already plus I was gonna add a slice of cheese on top. Add in water if you want and pepper. Taste as you go. Can add mixed herbs or rosemary if you want but Winnie said no need..cos the pasta sauce from the jar has enough taste already.

Pour the whole thing into a ramekin. Make a hole in the middle and crack in a whole egg. Into the oven for 20 mins at 180 degrees. The egg will be almost cooked by then. If you want half cooked eggs, less time in the oven for you. Add a slice of cheese on top and 5 mins more in the oven. Toast a slice of bread and use it to mop up your sauce. Yum.

This is an easy enough recipe for night time supper or breakfast, I suppose. Not too much preparation or washing up to do.

OK bye. Update next time.

Have a good weekend everyone! xx

Pictars from Kevin's cam long long ago

These photos were mostly taken in Dec 2011 or during Chinese New Year (CNY) eve or the first day of CNY.
Long overdue photos. I took Kevin's DSLR over to my place last night to upload the photos and realized there were all these photos that I have never seen before.

New Year eve at Sarawak Club last year. The theme was Circus Trapeze. So there were a lot of clowns giving out balloons. I always wanted these balloons but clowns only give to kids. Not to working adults. So yea. Happy we got it finally!

I talked about the event here, and for the year before that here.

For 2012, the theme is the Great Gatsby. Whatever that means. I Googled it and a book and movie came out. No idea how is it related. Anyway, its black tie, so just dress up anyway. Time to go shopping. Feel like wearing a maxi dress..just cos I haven't worn one in ages.

This was on CNY eve. Look at little fatty all dressed up in a pretty sailor dress. Beyond cuteness. So pretty. Hahah btw, we did not dress her up especially for CNY. She has a few little dresses for the evenings and nights cos she might get cold in the air con room with us. Especially if its raining at night.

Cherrie sleeps with my parents in their room. Pampered eh. She alternates between her own basket on the floor or on the bed by their feet, or between their pillows, sometimes climbing over my dad's head (literally) at night to get over to my mum's side. Damn cute.

Look at that face!!

Cherrie is scared!!

Kev and the other men (cos women sit and take photos like me) go handle the fireworks every CNY eve. I have not lit any fireworks since I was a kid. The men light them and clean up every year. Yay for us. I'm the official photographer. That's my job. Winnie's is to...I don't know really..she just stand there admiring, and mum is to watch over Cherrie.

Every year our grandma, aunts and uncles and their kids come over for CNY reunion dinner and the whole extended family wait till midnight for the fireworks to start and then leave. So in between the time it takes after dinner to midnight, we talk, drink, play cards, watch tv, and soak up the festive atmosphere!!

I'm sooo looking forward to CNY!!

Mum brought the little girl out here to watch as well. That is why she looks so scared. But still cute.

If I am not mistaken, Cherrie was squirming around too much so mum brought her in instead.

This photo was taken the next day on the first day of CNY. I was only here the first day. Second day, Cs and I joined his family in Taiwan. Awesome trip that I realized I forgot to blog anything about CNY at all. Real smooth mi.

I love that skirt. Got it from supre website. It was a hassle to ship and everything but Winnie's friend handled it. Kudos to Amber. Super worth it but haih ended up giving the skirt away. Don't ask!

One with the sista!

All of us kids. Although "kids" is used verrryy loosely here. OK fine kids should not be in this sentence.

But look how slim I was back in Jan. Fuck this shit how did I gain so much weight? 3 kg btw, does not sound like much but I'm pretty sure I won't look that good in that white singlet and skirt any more. Not that I have it anymore. Boo.

Fast forward to October. This photo below was taken earlier this week. Dinner with the family to celebrate Winnie's graduation. I'll post photos for that next time.

Gawd..minus those eyebags, I would put this as my new profile pic. Too bad. Sorry next time Cherrie. Another time.

Look at that face!! Wanna strangle her sometimes for being too cute and sometimes for being too spoilt or bitchy.

She looks like our baby here eh. Maybe I should go ahead and get pregnant soon. Not exactly young mi. Can't keep playing. That was what my aunt said to my mum: Amy so old already, still don't want to have kids ah? =.=

Haiya we have plans ok. People should stop asking me this. I know lah, I'm at the age where half my friends are pregnant or have one or two kids (or more), or are like me. Even my colleagues who got married more or less the same time as me are pregnant or have given birth. Whaii so fast?! After marriage straightaway forgo all birth control methods?! Make me look bad. Or I make you look bad. Makes sense?

On one hand, sometimes I feel like: oh lets just go ahead and do it. (Especially after reading Xiaxue's post! If people get pregnant after reading her post, she should win that Most Influential Blogger Award for the rest of her life hahahha). Its the same for Cs as well. Ahhh..but then Air Asia starts tempting us and we start planning our next vacation and babies go out of the window again.

But like I said, we have plans lah. Just stop asking me. Weird. Isn't it considered rude? Especially when they start to pat my stomach. =.= Go away.

In the meantime, we have little precious here to coo over..

Too cute. Ok bye!

For the sake of an update: Planet and Cherrie

I was on a photo editing spree one fine morning at work when the system was done. This was at Planet, the karaoke pub. Winnie was right. We are buay paiseh here already. Our second home! Hahah no lah kidding. But we are kinda immune to the other people there already cos we are regulars there. This is our new VA. New hangout spot. Don't know if this is a good thing or not. :D

We drink as much as we want (cheap beers and open corkage for Macallans cheaper than outside pubs), request songs to sing - also very buay paiseh. Screaming/screeching at the top of our lungs! HAHA kidding kidding! And then we start dancing. In a karaoke/pub. Btw, this is an open area. No private rooms.

In the beginning, we were all shy and awkward when we started singing in public, but now not so much. (We here refers to me, Winnie and mum). But still after liberal amounts of alcohol lah. I salute people who sing without alcohol.

This is the Retreat I was talking about at Lundu!

And this is the little princess surrounded by her toys! She is soo spoilt! :)
Little bundle of joy! Little cutie pie! She never fails to make us smile. This is her in a good mood cos all of us are crowding around her, playing with her. And just look at her toys. This is not all of them some more. She also has a lot of dresses/shirts.

Cherrie and Cs sniffing each other hahha: you smell pretty bad yourself.

OK have a good weekend everyone!

Cherrie time

Just because I don't want to end 2011 with that post below of Kevin and me insulting each other.

So I err..adjusted the date on this one and voila. This shall be my last post of 2011 :)

One of the best things we (the Simon family) ever did this year (wait was that last year - 2010 sheeeett time really flies) was to inherit a new pet. Cherrie has brought so much joy and laughter's to our life. She has made mum so much happier.

In the beginning, I was quite against my mum getting a new pet so soon after ah boi passed away. But I'm glad we did now. This little cutie, this little fatty warmed our hearts again.

She's our little pampered princess. We love her to bits and unfortunately spoil her to bits too. Hehe but its okay.
Said little princess sleeps with my parents in their room because little princess is afraid of the dark. We put her in the kitchen but she looked so sad when we turn off the lights and left her alone. HAHA. Spoilt indeed.
She is not dirty though if that's what you're thinking. Mum bathes her and cleans her with a wet cloth every night. Cherrie is also toilet trained literally. She runs off to the toilet when she needs to pee/shit.

When she was still a puppy, we laid newspaper at different spots around the house so she can run to the nearest one to pee/shit. Puppies can't really hold in their pee/shit as long. When they wake up, they need to go. Immediately.

But as she got older, we only put newspapers in the toilet, and she runs to the toilet when she needs to. So kwai right? :D So she really is not that bad. Quite easy to take care of. Mum or Eli cleans her up after she does her business every time. So she is clean.

I don't know how I ended up talking so much about Cherrie but oh well. She makes me happy. I used to come home from work upset and cranky and to have a little ball of fluff jumping around you so happy to see you, it just makes my day! :D

I miss that fatty even though I just saw her yesterday. :D

Chicken chop and baked potatoes!

Cs and I just recently bought an oven. Oh dear I forgot the brand name again. Tefal (wait isn't that for pots?), Midea? Yea, think it might be Midea..

And to celebrate our first inaugural meal from the oven, I made chicken chop and baked potatoes!!

When I said I made chicken chop, what I mean is Cs pestered me day and night begging me to make him chicken chop!! =.=

I was happily flipping through recipe books, searching recipes online for something that rocks my boat, and whenever I asked Cs for an opinion, all he could come up with was: chicken chop! (with a lot of crispy chicken skin on top) Men.

So I did lah! :)

Home made chicken chop with baked potatoes!

I rock!

Hehe I know its easy to make bla bla bla, but if you knew me, you would know that I don't cook much. So this is not bad! Not bad at all.

The recipe:

I actually went to Google it and read through various sources and different types of oven baked chicken before I made it. To this end (and I mean when cooking only), I am meticulous like that.

Nifer once told me before that I am fierce in the kitchen, and would scold people if they don't do things my way, because I have to follow the recipe step by step. (Haha sorry Nifer!!) Its actually very true. I scold Cs if he tries to mess up in my kitchen! :)

For this version, I used boneless chicken thigh. Defrost the meat beforehand. I took them out of the freezer the night before and left them in the fridge. The next day, I wash them and pat them dry with kitchen towels.

According to sources on Google, you have to pat the chicken dry, so you get crispy skin when you oven bake them. So yea. Just listen to more knowledgeable people.

After that, rub olive oil, salt and pepper (quite liberal amounts), garlic (chopped) rosemary/thyme/whatever herbs you have on hand.

Then you stick it back in the fridge for a few hours, until you need to bake them before dinner time.

If I remember correctly, I used 180 degrees Celsius for about 15-20 minutes? Just keep an eye on those birds you can't go wrong. When you think they are cooked, turn the fire up to about 200 degrees to brown the skin slightly.

Ooh forgot to mention the potatoes. No brainer lah. Wash, peel, cut and arrange on plate. Stick into oven with the chicken! :)

And there you have it. Voila:

The smell of the herbs in the oven mmm...delicious..

Crispy chicken skin. Check.

And I also made coleslaw with cherry tomatoes to go with our meal.

I made too much coleslaw for the both of us. I always end up eating it for dinner and lunch the next day. And throw the rest down the drain because I can't eat it again for dinner. (Not as wasting as it sounds ok..it was just a few mouthfuls left).

Btw, I love these photography apps man. They make my photos look good even though I have no skill. Awesome stuff.

And if you think my face looks weird in the photo above, you're right. I used Face Cam to try to make myself look more..er..presentable. But me thinks I overdid it. Now I just look weird.

Cherrie still looks gorgeous though.

Don't judge a book by its cover please.

Despite its appearance (dammit should have used some fancy app to save the photo), it actually tastes pretty good.

That, ladies and gents, is a peanut butter salad. Never heard of it? My mum used to make this at home. Cs came over for dinner one night, tried it and loved it. Then, as usual, pestered me to cook it for him. So I did.

Lemme just take you straight to the ingredients:

- one chicken thigh, cooked and sliced really thin
- one cucumber, peeled, sliced really thin
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp sugar
-2 tbsp vinegar
-2 tbsp "tou ban jiang" (Ok I'm not being very helpful am I? In English, I think its called Salted Soy Beans. I bought the Yeos brand.)
- 2 to 3 eggs (hard boiled and sliced)

Did I miss anything out? (pauses)

*Shrugs*

And that's it. Toss everything into a bowl (except eggs) and mix together. Add the eggs in last so you don't mash them too much.

Oh wait. No. I forgot something. Don't add in all the sauce at one go. It will be TOO SALTY (like mine is). Add it in slowly. Taste as you go so you know how salty you want it to be.

I really don't think I'm being very helpful.

Because it was a tad too salty, we had it with bread (as our dinner), and now, it tastes perfect. Just about. Self praise is no praise.

And I know the photo above is a bit unsightly. So, here are some very mouth watering photos for your viewing pleasure:

Winnie had this. /drools all over phone keyboard!!

Looks friggin yummy! Looks too good to eat!! She had it in Singapore btw. So yea bo kang tao to us people in Kuching.

This was mum's slice. Still gorgeous but I prefer the strawberry!

Last one of Cherrie and me before I go. I edited the photo above too with Face Cam. Somehow I look worse. How is this possible? Haih! Fail!

K bye!

Cherrie time

Its been a while since the little cutie has been featured here.. I miss that cute, fat furry ass.

Winnie is keeping me updated with Her Higness' recent news and photos..

Because of her itchy skin, the vet has recommended a new diet for Cherrie. No more chicken. Strictly lamb only from now on. Wow seriously?! Lucky bitch!

I shall know more tonight after I talk to mum and Winnie in person..

And yes, all edited photos because I am kinda addicted to those apps!

Damn fun and easy to use..

My S90 has been left untouched ever since I got my new phone.. Hehehe.

Fear not! Holidays are coming up and I have to use it soon.. Can't wait for holidays! Can't wait to go somewhere! I want my honeymoon!
