This and that III

So here are some random photos for the sake of keeping my blog alive. I do want to update something but don't know what to talk about so I went to dig up some old never posted before photos.

Haii so many photos I have not yet posted up. Winnie is so gonna screw me about not posting her birthday photos from last year again. Let's hope she is not reading this hehe.

Random cute photo of Cherrie.

When I aimed the camera at her, her head was not like that. Her head was somehow hidden and from my side, all I could see was a round fluff ball. Ahh too bad I didn't get that photo of her. Next time.

Last Saturday night, some of our came over to swim and we made sushi for dinner. I wanted to buy some salmon and unagi but the Akira owner would not sell it to me. Hmph. I have heard from friends before that they bought it from the Akira sushi owner, so I thought he sold it to the general public too..oh well.

We improvised! Made do with what we have. Added cheese on top ala sushi king. And add liberal amounts of that salmon roe/eggs/caviar thingy- I never know the correct name and lazy to google it.

It was Eli's birthday on the 8th of March. After 8 years (time flies mannn!!) of working for us, (I am quite ashamed of admitting this), we finally knew her birthday and thus bought her a cake:

Happy Birthday Eli! She is the best!

I can still remember the first day (serious) when she came to work for us. Mum does not speak Malay, so I was the translator. I was the one who told Eli her chores etc.

Now, Eli can speak in broken Hokkien, English, Mandarin, Cantonese etc. Whatever mum speaks, in the same broken dialect..

Its funny cos they (mum and Eli) understand each other perfectly now, whereas dad, Winnie and I look at each other bewildered sometimes listening to their conversations.

Sometimes I still am surprised when I hear Eli speaking Cantonese and Mandarin to Cherrie. Exactly like mum! Hehe.

Moving on. It was Janet's birthday too. Different weekend. We went to VA and here is mum giving Janet a birthday kiss:

They look so cute together..

Vain photo of self eventhough its not that nice. My shirt was so transparent that day. Actually only the back part is transparent. Front is ok.

This photo below is taken after the free drinks. So here I am kissing the hand of her highness, princess Winnie. This happens quite often. Her highness' feet hurt, so someone has to hold her hand and lead her so she doesn't wobble her way to the lift.

This photo below was from the Meet your Valentines party at Senso. I think. Drinks are so freaking pricey there -I am never going back. Sorry but that is the only thing that comes to mind now. That plus the band. Phillipino band, says Mary. With the interesting dance moves.

If I remember correctly, we paid RM 30 for entrance fee and get a free drink. Either beer or cocktail. It was quite a while ago and I have the worst memory post alcohol. So I don't remember. -___-

I only remember that the place looked quite posh, and I don't like the table settings. Not enough tables and chairs around the bar. Either you can see the band, or you don't. They have a separate ermm..room/lounge off to one side. Consisting of some very comfy sofa/couches but I'm not really into that.

Much prefer to stand when I have a glass in my hand. Don't know why. Must be the Heaven upbringing. Hehehe..I wonder, does Shirley remember those days?

Winnie looks good in this photo below. Don't think she has seen this before yet. Heh sorry sorry.

Oh and me. I look like that probably cos of the brake lights of the car in front? No idea. Think we were on the way to Adeline's wedding. Gasp. That was in January.

*****

On to news of the present. Erm I bought a wedding gown online? Gasp! *starts hyperventilating! I cannot calm down. I cannot stop agonizing over this! Am I doing the right thing? Will I regret? Shit shit shit! Not cheap ok. I kept delaying and delaying and then before you know it, there is less than 6 months left! Grrr...time fucking flies. Argh!

The least I can do is to find something to wear on the day itself. So many more things to tick off that checklist and sometimes I wish time pass by faster so I don't have to worry and think about this anymore.

So I can go back to day dreaming about our honeymoon trip. Just the two of us. No huss, no fuss.

Everything comes in twos. There is always the good and the bad news.

Anyway. I have a reputation for not knowing how to shop (I am a guy at heart) and making all the wrong decisions (shopping wise). Grr. Please please not let me make the wrong decision. Please let the dress fit. As I typed in my body measurements, I felt beads of sweat popping out on my forehead. What if I made the wrong decision? What if it doesn't fit me? I am always nit picking and dammit I don't want to regret this.

Abrupt change of topic cos I don't want to have dreams about this again.

I want to go Damai again. Damai = calm, relaxing, holiday yet affordable. :)

Free drinks on Fridays

Guess where I was last Friday night? No lah! Of course don't guess. Don't you hate it when you are asked this type of question? Guess what? Guess what? Guess your ass lar.

Ahem. Err...anyway. I was at Grand Margherita Hotel. Or more specifically Rajang Lobby Lounge to try their free margaritas. Free for ladies on Friday nights!

Stole this off google. Don't you just love the poster?

Free margaritas are divine!

In case you don't know, margarita is a cocktail consisting of tequila mixed with lime juice, served with salt on the glass rim. Believe it or not, I actually feel thirsty writing this down..ahhh..

Triple sec is (according to google): a strong, clear liqueur with an orange flavor similar to Curacao. It is used in making Margaritas.

There you go! Didn't know that did ya? Neither did I. Heh heh.

We were served free crackers and peanuts for free while we enjoy our free margaritas. Ladies, how good does it get?

I do have a slight complain though. Because each drink is freshly made, blended with ice, it takes quite a while to prepare when the pub is quite full with women. So we have to wait a while for our refills.

But I still managed to get 3 glasses of that during that Friday night. The place (Rajang Lobby Lounge) is quite small - not many tables. Cosy gathering but on that night that I was there, it was quite noisy. The lobby was filled with people. Probably due to some event going on in the hotel. Oh well.

The bar. Slightly blur photo sorry.

Winnie and I.

We did not stay long. After 9pm (ding ding ding no more free drinks), we moved to Liquid. Liquid is the poolside bar at Pullman hotel.

Janet, Daisy and mum.

Liquid is gorgeous but boring. The place is wide open, and so no sound system is going to sound awesome in that setting. Maybe the type they use at concerts only eh. But it was quite boring. Just sit there nothing to do.

But that's just me. When I drink, either I want to:

1) sit quietly with cs and friends to chit chat, laugh etc..
2) drink, drink, drink then dance dance dance the night away..

On Friday nights, most likely its the latter. Heh heh.

Liquid. Looks quite colorful in this photo eh?

There was also a projector showing GI Joe. Surprisingly though, as the night went by, the place started filling up. People are quite content to come here and have overpriced drinks and enjoy the atmosphere, and watch the movie.

After GI Joe, it was the Incredible Hulk. Wanted to stay and watch but we left. :(

Canopy beds by the pool..very windy. I can definitely see the attraction this place holds for some people. But its not for me..

Me.

Winnie.

Cs came to join us after work:

Best friend, fiance and driver!! ♥

Oh yea drinks. Forgot to talk about the drinks. Every Friday night, it is also ladies night at Liquid. Also free entrance. And you get a free drink.

According to the waitress I asked, this drink was whiskey with soda and apparently a piece of orange. Was it good? No.

Eh Pullman, at least use a better looking glass. For such a beautiful poolside setting, the drink and the presentation of the drink should have been better. Granted it was free, I know I know.

But look at Grand Margherita's margaritas! Yummeh! And VA's free flow of whiskey, beer, vodka, brandy and cocktails all for RM 15 only.

So I bought my own Corona. Ahh how I have missed you. Coronas are so expensive in Kuching. Or Malaysia for that matter.

Stole this photo of google again. Sorry ah..

But this photo is giving me ideas. Corona by the beach. MMmmmm...heaven.

I sound like such an alcoholic. But no. I am referring to my trip at the end of the year la. With cs. At the beach. By the pool. Together. Bliss. Bliss. Bliss. Can't wait!

Oh wait. I have not actually finished talking about my Friday night. After Liquid, cs and I sent Winnie home first. Then the four of us (with mum and Janet) went to Planet at third mile for some cheaper drinks.

A bucket of Heineken and a packet of Cheezels costs RM 37 (if I am not mistaken). Yea Cheezels cos I wanted something to munch on. Hungry again cos it was past midnight already.

Planet is a place filled with older working men and women. Its a small pub, quite intimate as in almost everyone know each another in there. Not really a surprise cos Kuching is really small.

Also, something you should know beforehand. Planet is a karaoke slash pub. So instead of normal pub music, you get to hear people singing to Chinese or English songs. Some are good and some are bad singers. But it was all good fun. Once in a while its okay..

So that's it. That was my Friday night.

The end of the night and yea, blur-flash-photo intentional.

*****

Just now I was listening to a techno-like song someone posted on Facebook. Once upon a time, I loved those songs. It was perfect for dancing in the club. But as I put on my headphones just now, I realized that I am really getting old. I felt like those were the days. The days gone by already..

Contrary to what you read and see here on my blog, I really don't go out that much anymore. Even if I did, I go and do boring stuff such as work, cook and eat dinner with my bf, work some more, and go to Boulevard for househould supplies.

But most of the time, I am sitting on my butt surfing the net endlessly..hence the lack of updates on this blog. :)

Oh yess..and watching SATC non stop at nights. But I have finally finished Season 1-Season 6 and the two movies. And yes I am as hooked as everyone else. Wahhh *bawls endlessly. Now what am I going to watch?

But it means that I have a lot more free time to update my blog again. Like now. Heh heh. Bye!

Too hot to think

Today I am going to talk about the very boring story of my dependence on inanimate objects.

Lip Balm! Or more specifically Lipice's lip balm:

Lipice strawberry. ♥

If there is one thing I cannot live without, it is my lipbalm. I always have dry lips - I think due to the fact that I wash my mouth or pat it with a tissue too much. :(

You know those types of questions - name three things you cannot live without, or if you were stuck on an island and can only bring three things, what would they be?

Haii.. its so stupid that I think of lip balm first before cs. Tragic. But how? hahaha. Dunno why am I even sharing this here. So dumb can die.

I am blaming the weather. Its too hot in leetle Kuching now. So hot can die too. T__T
It should be good news for me and cs cos we have a pool at home - perfect time to invite friends over at night to swim and eat.

Which is exactly what we are doing tonight btw. If only my period chose a better time to appear. Sigh. Why you so predictable? I knew you would come today! Grrr. Referring to my period now. Just whining but its good news la. I should be so thankful that my reproductive system (sounds scary) is working on time each month. :)

So. This is the inside of my new lip balm. Still looks perfect. White, smooth, slightly fragrant. Strawberry.

I use it till it becomes like this:

Hideous. Moving away from that.

I buy a few sticks of this lip balm and leave it everywhere. Literally. Because I am so dependent on this, I need to have this with me everywhere I go. And also, I am so absent minded that I cannot keep track of where my current lip balm is. So the perfect solution is to buy alot and leave it everywhere! Hahhaha

I have one in my room, one downstairs beside my laptop, in my work bag, in cs' house, his bedroom, his old house. You get the drift. I even have one in his car too!

I actually don't know when this habit started. Before I used Lipice, I was using Vaseline.

Vaseline aloe vera, my ex lover. This was widely available in Boots and everywhere else in the U.K. But coming back to Kuching, it just wasn't that easy to find. So after trying out other lipbalms, I stuck with Lipice.

Despite the slightly teenage girl, pink, peppy and sweet appearance, it is very good to use. It has no overpowering smell that Nivea's lip balm have. Don't like it but Nivea lip balms are actually very lasting - they keep my lips feeling very moist. For a longer period than Lipice even. To be frank. But I don't like the smell.

I like that Lipice has almost no smell, just a lingering scent of strawberries. I don't smell it, probably because I am so used to it already. But strawberries are ok what. Its not sickly sweet. Better than the lipstick smell that Nivea has.

Plus I like that Lipice strawberry makes my lips shine a bit -I mean a bit of pinkish glow, after using, while keeping my lips moist. No dry or chapped lips. I hate hate hate that. Think that is why I am so dependent on lip balms.

God how can I have blabbed so much on such an inanimate object? And my lips. Ahh the shame and vanity!!

Might as well continue since I have come this far eh?

There you go. Bye!

Halfway there..

Halfway through Sex and the City. Actually I am through Season 6 now (gasp!) - Carrie is in Paris and Alexandr Petrovsky slapped her! I actually googled him and he is a fictional character. Haha. Sorry man. But my motto is: when in doubt, google it! Cs has learnt this from me. hehe.

As I was saying, dammit I hate Carrie a lot sometimes. Why does she have to make things so complicated for herself? But I am so hooked! Now she has moved to Paris. I feel sorry for her and at the same time I rewind the part where Alexandr Petrovsky slapped her again and again. Shit something is wrong with me..

Would you move to Paris with someone you love?

I once left an ex-bf in London. I came back to Kuching. He went to Belgium. And we went separate ways. Home, to me, is like nowhere else. Dorothy once said that there is no place like home. Well that chick is right. To me at least.

The story is of course much more complicated than that. Long distance is very, very, VERY fucking difficult and I salute those who can go through it. Been there. Done that. Twice. And failed.

So, no. Bad idea. That said, moving to a foreign country is also a very bad idea. I have once stayed in Belgium for a week - where people address me in Dutch and French and it is not nice. I strictly speak English and Mandarin only. Hello to reality!

While he was working, I was exploring Belgium by myself, and no, it was not fun. Taking train rides to different cities, out walking alone with a guide book, and alot of pointing and miming since I don't speak French or Dutch.

Watching Carrie exploring Paris by herself is like deja vu. But at least he did not accidentally slap me heh.

I have always wondered this: do you know how many people who have found their true love to be the person they never thought it was? The old friend back in their hometown. The brother's friend. That colleague. Someone you used to get along very well with but you didn't accept him because you thought there would be someone better out there!

This is exactly how Carrie is thinking. And most of the women out there. Me included. I searched far and wide for different men. Different nationalities, different personalities. For something different. We had things in common - mostly hormones (kidding!) But once that wore off, we want something closer to home. Isn't that always the case?

I am not referring to just myself, but also to two of my very close friends: Shirley and Nifer. Guess who are we all with now? Life is so very unexpected!

But I do believe in happy endings. Or karma at least.

Carrie is with Mr. Big now. I used to hate him but oh well I already knew they would be together - having watched the movies already.

Night~

If You Leave Me Now - Chicago

Song of the day:

♥ this song! I think I must be 70 at heart. Isn't this song from the 70s?

But ahhh so sweet the taste of love..

Sweet dreams people~
